DRAWING THE LINE.
liberal Covenanters Will Not Entertain
Their Intolerant Brethren Soring the
Meeting of Their Synod Some Bed-Hot
Itoa&tlngs Are Anticipated.
A liberal Covenanter yesterday quoted
Dr. McAllister's reported comment on Profc
McClurkui's letter: "We now know what we
have to meet; what the real Issue Is," and
then went on to say that Dr. McAllister
thereby confesses that he did not vote to
convict on tho merits of the case, but on
prejudice. He added: "Further, Prof. Mc-
McClurkln is not talking for the suspended
mlnisters,but for himsclf,and Dr. McAllister
had no right to form any Judgment against
them from Prof. McClurLm's utterance; lor
the professor did not pretendtotalk foralL"
The same gentleman, who is a prominent
member of tho church, further stated that
"lntolearnts," as he termed them, might find
accommodations for themselves. He said
the liberal part of the resident church would
Srovide ample accommodations for liberal
elegates and their wives; but those who set
themselves up to dictate to the rest of the
brethren what they should do nnd should
not do might find lood nnd lodging forthem
selvcs. lie said that 200 delegates w ould bo
present, as he said liberal minded men were
discriminated against by the Intolerant
party, and that it bad attempted to pack tho
convention.
Itev. E. 1H Milligan was seen. He said his
suspension was not giving him any trouble.
His father. Dr. J. C K. Milligan, of Now
York, will be present, and he, too, will bo
roasted on the charge of heresy.
Altogether, it may be expected that the
Svnod that op'eiis to-morrow willbeanotable
one, nnd that results may happen equaling
the split of 1S33. So far as known, the young
men who w ere suspended nre as firm as ever,
and their friends' ardor Is apparently un
quenchable. ArrirriTE is generally restored to deli
cate children by the use-in tonic dose of
Dr. D. Jayne's Tonic Vermifuge; and not
onlv an appetite, but strength and vigor as
well. "While essentially a strengthener, it
is also an excellent vermifuge; and if these
pests of childhood are present, there Is no
Letter, safer or cheaper remedy. Sold by
all druggists.
The Cool Northwest.
The lakes and dells of "Wisconsin, Minne

of summer sojourn, are reached from Chi
cago by trains of the northwestern railways
that connect directly with the fast express
trains of the Pennsylvania lines. Summer
tourist tickets at reduced rates will be on
sale at the principal ticket offices of the
Pennsylvania lines to "Waukesha, Ocono
mowoc, Hartland, Madison, Pelican Lake,

AN ELEGANT TRIP,
In -which participants may combine pleasure with profit, without risk and at small
expense.
On Sunday, May 31, 1891, .
At 9:20 p. m., a train made np of comfortable day coaches and Pullman sleepers will

Via that picturesque route
To Staunton, Virginia,
The Metropolis of the Shenandoah Valley and the New Pittsburg of the Old Domin

'"It is the coming Eldorado of American adventure." The route lies through a conn
try full of historical interest. At
HARPER'S FERRY
A daylight stop wiU be made and tourists afforded an opportunity to view the field of
John Brown's ante-bellum' exploits; from thence, through grass-clad valleys, by
sparkling streams and along variegated hills, the train will speed through some of the
wildest, most romantic and lovely scenery on the continent, into Virginia, clothed
now in the rich verdure of a Southern spring.
