conTention of the Young Women! Chrit
tian Association met in this citj in biennial
(ession to-day. About 300 local organiza
tions are represented. The call to order was
by Miss Laura Arnold, of Galesburg, 111.
Mrs. L. M. Gates, of this city, delirered tbe
address of welcome, Miss Fulton, Secretary
of tbe Bhode Island Auociation, making
the response. The Nomination Committee
reported tbe following selections: President,
Mrs. J. T. JTarwell, Chicago; "Vice Presi
dents, Miss B. F. Morss, New York; Mrs.
G. E. Gerion, Prairie Du S3c, Wis.; Mrs.
Flora LauRhliB, Greencastle, Ind.; Secre
taries, Miss Jennie A. Gouldv, Newbnrg,
N Y., and Mis Louisa D.ile, Delaware,
O ; Press Secretaries, Miss Flora Wise,
Kansas City, and Mis Fanny Kastol, of St.
Joseph, Mo. The report was adopted unan
imously. The new President assumed the chair and
made a brief address, at the close of which
she appointed the standing committees.
Miss Belle Bevier, ot Pittsburg, is Chairman of
tbe Committee ou Nominations for next ses
sion. This erenlng a reception was held.
Other business sessions ill be held to-morrow
and Saturday, and addresses will be made
by eminent New York and Western divines,
bunday there will be two short meetings held
a consecration serrice in the morning, and a
Gospel meeting for women in the after
noon In the evening the closing service will
take place in the Academy of Music, and later
on the farewell service will occur.

Man sfiet.d, O., April 23. On April 11. the
body of a tramp who was killed in a wreck, was
taken up by medical students, dissected and
reinterred on tbe 19tb. Tnls afternoon a sensa
tion was created by the finding by officers of
the badly-decomposed body of another man in
a garret in the business pottion of the city. It
had evidently been in tbe hands of students,
an5 was partly dissected.
The citv is in a state of great excitement, as
it is now thought others have been taken up
and cut in pieces. A younc man named Casey,
who diod the other day, was a handsome and
perfect specimen of manhood, and his friends
are to make an examination of his crave. The
students are greatly excited over threatened
arrests.

Chambersbubq, April 23. C. L. Grove, a
well known young man of this place, was ar
rested here this morning by a deputy sheriff of
Adams county on the charge of perjury, com
mitted while taking out a marriage license last
mon'h, previous to his marriage with Miss Ber
tie Gilmore.
The information was made bv Mrs. Ophelia
Gilmore. of Dansville, N. Y., who says the
brine, her daughter, is not vet IS. In order to

There has not until this time been a conviction
in this State for perjury in swearing falsely to

western part of the city was covered with small
