Judge Slaglc's Address.
Post S"s meeting last Monday evening -was a
'very interesting one. The members of Post 3
turned out In strong numbers and other posts
were well represented. Comrade Judge
Elagle's address, a repetition of the one he de
livered at tho dedication of his regiment's
monument at Gettysburg, supplemented by a
history of the regiment, Leld tne closo atten
tion of tbe comrades throughout.
Comrade Edward F.3hcr read a history of
thelsTinth Resen es, coirpilea from the diary
or the late Comraae A- P. Morrison. It was
Intensely interesting. A beautiful gold cast
commander's badge was presented to Comrade
w. F. fcpecr. Comrade J. Milton Hays, of tbe

Post 83 will attend divine services at tbe
Ladies of the G. A. R. Home at Ban kins sta
tion this afternoon. Tbe post will assemble at
tbe post room at 120 p. M. sharp.
At the meeting of Post 41 last Wednesday
evening Comrade Lee, who served in Com
pany K, Seventy-eighth Pennsylvania Volun
teers, was mustered into the ranks.
A Woman's Relief Coups, auxiliary to
Post 155, will soon be organized. The post's
permission has been given. The new corps will
take the same name as the post, Colouel Will
tain H. Moody.
Post 157 bad the honor of being visited by
Assistant Inspector General William Russell,
last Thursday nighty The post highly appre
ciated tbe bonor of being the first visited by
one of the national staff.
The address of any comrade of Company H,
Seventy-eighth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volun
teers, who knew William Holland, is wanted
by Lieutenant F. C. Holland of Welsh Camp,

the Relief Committee of Post 41, has a long

during the "war and was upward of 18 years

talk over tho celebration of tbe twentr-firtb an
niversary of the organization of tbe Grand
Arms. A report of tbe proceedings will be
found in tbe local columns.
Tnc comrades of Post 155 are greatly ploased
over their section of the Cyclorama of tbe Battle-
of OottjsDurg. It presents tho thrilling
scene of Coopcr'siamous battery golnglnto ac
tion. The canvas measures 16x20 feet and will
be hung in the post room.
The rate fixed by tbe Pennsylvania Railroad
for round trip tickets to Altoona is S3 50. Tho
tickets can be had onlv on card orders which
can be secured from Post Adjutants. Tickets
will be on sale and good from February 21 to 25
going and good returning tlU tbe 28th.
The ranks of Post 157 were invaded by death
on Friday and Cotcrade John Gottbard taken.
He served in Company H., Sixty-second Penn
sylvania Volunteers, Neglcy's Independent
Battalion of Scouts. The post will assemble at
the post room at 1 o'clock to attend tho fun
eral. The Ladies of tho G. A. R. are soliciting tbe
Influence of the different posts in favor of a
bill appropriating $150 per annum for each in
mate of the Home at Hawkins station during
tbe years 1631 and 1132. The favorable recom
mendation of the State Board of Charities has
been secured.
The ninth anniversary ot Post 1C2 was cele
brated last night at the regular meeting. Posts
bS and 123, ot Allegheny, wero present as were
representatives ot Pittsburg posts. The hall
naa crowded. There were a number of excel
lent speeches and a very enjoyable time. The
usual master took place.

mander Denmston announces the appointment
of fire members on the Soldiers' Home Com
mission as follows: Louis Wagner, Post No, 6;
Robert B. Beath. Post No. S; Thomas J. Stewart,
Post No. 11; Isaac Is. Brown. Post No. 70;
Charles CL Shirk, Post No. 67.
Major John Hancock, manager of tbe
Black Diamond Steel Works, and bow quarter
master of Post 41, was one of the first to con
nect himself with that post at its organization,
and bas been a member ever since. The unique
cap he-wears is the only one of the kind known
to be in existence. It looks well upon the
Major.
The Entertainment Committee of Post 18!
wishes to thank Mia .Rosalind Foritor f or hex
valuable assistance in tbe recent production of
"The Little Recruit.' She personated the
character of Agnes Cheatham, and persons
who witnessed ber performance say that her
elocutionarv attainments are fine and acting
very agreeable.
Post 151's Detroit Club continues to flour
ish. At thelast. meeting Secretary D. A. Jones
was instructed to open correspondence with the
committee in Detroit with a view of securing
quarters for the members of tbe club during
the National Encampment. Comrade Jones ex
pects to make a report at the next meeting nf
the clnb .which will takeplace Tuesday, Feb
ruary 24. , '
A large and interesting meeting of tbe sur
vivors of the Thirteenth Regimen, was held In
the Central Hotel Wednesday evening. It was,
decided to hold a meeting in the armory of the
Washington Infantry. Old City Hall, on next
Friday, at which meeting arrangements will be
made for tbe celebration and parade on April
17. the anniversary of tbe regiment's march to
tbe field.
Post 41 mustered in its first recruit for the
current year last Wednesday night. Commander
Cassldy being absent. Senior Vice Commander
Nietta occupied the chair. Considering that
tbe officers were all new and never bad any ex
perience to speak of in a muster, tbe services
were gone through in a creditable manner. Tbe
post has two or three other comrades on its list
for muster in, with promises of others to fol
low. The Ladies' Union Veteran Soldier Associa
tion No. 1, organized by Mrs. George W
Hughes and others, will meet at 2 o'clock
Thursday afternoon, February 26, at tbe ball of
Encampment No. U. V. L., 77 Sixth avenue.
All applications for membership of mothers,
wives, widows and sisters of union veteran
soldiers of three years' enlistment will be con
sidered, as will also the question of tbe admis
sion of daughters.
It is the opinion of the comrades in Alle
gheny county that a comrade of tbe character
and standing of W. J. Patterson, of Post 157,
ought to have every vote in tbe department for
Council of Administration. Comrade Patter
son wa endorsed at the meeting of delegates
who believe that if he was as well known
throughout tbe department as he is in the
western end, there would be no doubt as to
where every vote would go.
The following resolntion was adopted by
Encampment No. 6, U. V. L., on Friday even
ipg: Resolved, That we, the members of En
campment No. 8. Union Veteran LaMnn of
Allegheny City, Pa., hereby express our regrets
and sorrow over the very serious illness of
Major General W. T. Sherman, and extend our
heartfelt synmathles to him as a comrade of
the late war tor the Union, as one ot its most
conspicuous and illustrious generals and as a
model of patriotism.

the Third district, was mustered into Post 151
last Tuesday evening. Captain Stewart had a
hard time becoming a comrade. Shortly after
rraking application, which was some time ago,
be took sick. While recovering from this spell
he sprained bis ankle, and was laid up again.
It is said that tbe bustling recruiters of Post
161 baa resolved to carry Comrade Stewart in
on a stretcher if fate interfered again. This
was happily averted, however, and the boys
had tbe pleasure of seeing him walk in.
Sons of Veterans.
Camp S3 is now one of the best equipped
camps in this end of the division.
Forty-one camps have been organized in
the order since tbe first of tbe current year.
Fifteen applications for membership hare
been made to Camp 2 since the first of tbe year.
Camp 33 had another muster last Monday. It
was witnessed by several comrades of the
umuu ,i.rmv.
Camp 83 will visit Camp 2G3, at Mansfield,
next Tuesday evening. The Mansfield camp is
getting along nicely.

camp in the vicinity.
Camp 4 bad an interesting meeting Thursday
evening. It was Lincoln's birtbday. Prom!

committee appointed by tbe camp, consisting of

Mills and Camp Councilman George Date with
Quartermaster Sergeant
