The Tale of a DeceiTed and Forsaken Woman and Her Child TOLD IS A SUIT FOR DAMAGES. J. L. Orr "Will EeceiTe His Sentence To-Day, From Judge White. DRIFT OF A DAI IN THE COURTS Joseph Breil, Esq., yesterday entered suit in Common Pleas CourtNo. 1 on be half of Miss Mary Rupert ajrainst John Lytle for $10,000 damages. Miss Enpert is a. comely girl, of prepossessing appear ance, and the recitation of her wrongs is quite pathetic, although pnt into legal phraseology by Mr. Briel. She is a mother and has been for two years, bnt not a wile. Miss Enpert alleges that sue was a do mestic in the honse of John Lytle's father. She states that when her trouble came the defendant -wis present and comforted her by stating that he would mrry her. Miss Rupert's father, bowerer, did not take kindly to prom ises, and she says he made it uncomfortable for her at home. Accordingly Lvtle. the defend ant, rented a room lor her on Penn avenne, and she received employment at the Union station, cleaning cars. This employment, she states, did sot afford a living lor herself and child, and she as forced to co back to her father and male the best of it. JIis Rupert status that after her rotnrn to the parental domicile, Lytle continued to call on her, and addressed her as .Mrs. Lrtie." Though hone deferred was at times heart sickening, it woulu appear from Silas Rupert's narration that she was at times very nearly happ and content in the prospect that some day she would be set right by being publicly acknowledged as the wife of the defendant, and be able to wear her matronly fetters with honor. But one day last August she met Lytle on the street, and he was accompanied by a lady whose easy and collected carriage seemed to indicate that she bore a confidential relation with him, inconsistent with his previous en gagement. When he next called on the plaintiff in this snit she catechised him regarding the status of the lady she had seen with him on the street. She avers that Lvtle said she must be mistaken, bnt she could scarce be convinced of it. lie, she alleges said it would be all right as soon as he could liquidate a debt for his father, lie, as alleged, then asked her to sign a paper, but would not allow her to see the contents of it. Miss Rupert for a time held out, demanding to know what the paper contained, but love finally conquered and she affixed her autograph, relying on her lover's lepresentations. Miss Rupert avers that since then she learned that she had signed n, paper releasing John Lytle from his obligation to marry her, and she further states that within five days from that timo he married a saleslady lately employed in a Penn avenue store. The second engagement, of course, rendered the fulfillment of the first impossible, and Miss Rupert in consequence asks tor 510,090 damages. The plaintiff in this suit lives on Grove street and the defendant is a clerk in the City As sessor's office. IN THE CIECuTT C0TJET. llook Agents "ot Compelled to Take Ont Borough Licenses. KAUFMANNS GREAT NOVEMBER SALE OF MEN'S SUITS AND ' OVERCOATS Is a most remarkable success, and all owing to the wonderful and unprecedented values offered. The goods shown at this sale con sist of the most desirable, stylish and choicest Fall and Winter Clothing. No leavings of former seasons that have in vain been peddled all over the country, and then dumped into "hurrah," "fire-eating" houses to be palmed off on the "dear public" as "fine clothing closed out from hard-up manufacturers below cost." Nor yet have we found it necessary to awaken public interest by telling fairy tales of manufacturing firms closing out valuable stocks for next to nothing and all on ac count of dissolving partnership. But this only shows the hard straits in which our suc cessful November Bargain Sale has placed the houses indulging in such balderdash. The usual means having failed, they resort to tricks to bolster- up their declining trade. TWELVE Will buy at this sale an elegant tailor-made and custom-fitting Suit or Overcoat that your tailor would want $25 for. TUC CTC come in every shape of Sack and Frock, made of I III" wUI I w fianrfcnme f.iririr! in fnshinnnhle Hpsicrnc. onlnra and mixtures. EIGHTEEN DOLLARS TWENTY DOLLARS AND TWENTY-TWO DOLLARS Will buy richly trimmed Suits or Overcoats that are ultra fashion able and exquisitely fine. Such superb garments, in truth, that the merchant tailors, who can equal them at any price are few and far between.
