Test rday was rather a "blue Monday" at the Exposition, rn comparison with the large frowds of lastweek, but a large crowd is exacted to-day. The following extract from in order of which 2,000 were mailed, will explain: "Tf respond totin apparent general desire of thefloyal Arcanum brothers for an oppor tunity to meet together, accompanied by their famfies and friends, for mutual exchange of greetings and congratulations on the maimifi cenj progress of our order, arrangements have beei perfected for holding what shall be known as Roal Arcanum Day' at the Pittsburg Ex poation. The voting topic at The Dispatch head quarters vesterdav was "Should Pittsbntc Krect a Memorial to Stephen C. Foster." There were only four "no" votes registered, and the only negative reason given was, "But, nevertheless, he was a public benefactor; if all such would get monuments the city would be full of them." Some of the affirmative reasons were: "Let ns not forget Fletcher's aphorism, "Let us write the songs of a people, and you can write the laws.' " "America's sweetest songsters." "Yes, but don't come the Now York on us." For many days visitors at the .Expo have ad mired the tea blossom on the plant in the He No Tea exhibit: but it will be seen no more. Last night it was plucked,- and. together with a seed and some leaves, will be added to the treasures of the Western Pennsylvania Botan ical Society. & Hamilton Pianos nod Orsane. Mr. Hamilton is alive to the plan of placing novelties at his stand in the Exposi tion to make it always attractive and inter- esting. Just as changes are made at the ex hibit, just so are they made in larger pro portions at the warerooms: but the surpris ing part of it is that each time it is some thing finer, something that will teach the public, or, in other phrase, raise the level of music to a higher plane. Stand-still con servatism don't suit Mr. Hamilton; he is wide awater progressive, and, in the sense that he must and will have only the best ior his patrons, aggressive. That is why he has all those superb instruments to gladden the listeners, such as the Decker Bros', grands and uprights, whose massive tones and won derful sympathy bold one spell-bound; and the great Knabe grand: that provoke the happiest emotions; and Fischers and the Esteys that win upon you whether you will or not; and the celebrated Clough & War ren, and Story & Clark, and Estey and other reed organs, all highest types of this class of instruments, while best of all is the pipe organ, head and shoulders over any thing ever shown at an Exposition here; a collection in fact that would take the gold medal were any to be awarded. To see the rest oi these magnificent, durable, handsome instruments you will visit at once the ware rooms, Xos. 91 and 93 Filth avenue. J. F. Mocder, 135 Fifth Avenue. What are the correct modes and colors for overcoats, and fall and winter suits for the season of 1890-91? The answers to these serious questions will be cheerfully given upon personal application to Mr. J. F. Maeder- His fine stock and general prep arations for the big fall and winter ,trade, place bim in a position to give information upon these subjects. This is to be ode of the greatest festival weeks ever known in Pittsburg; it will be crowd upon crowd, and the indications are that a very large propor tion of these crowds propose enjoying the exposition that is always open in force at 135 Fifth avenue. There is common sense in combining business and pleasure, and that is what is done in buying your suits for yourself and your boys at this place. It is business to get the best for your money, and it is pleasure to examine this stock, make selections, be measured, and then wear these stylish, thoroughly well made clothes. Get there before this extra rush and get first choice. Some people 'never can remember a number, so lor their benefit once more it shall be recorded 135 Fifth avenue. Solid Comfort. If you desire to secure this, examine the improved reclining chairs made by the Stevens Chair Co., Ko. 3 Sixth st. The manufacturers have made these chairs a study for the past 12 years, and have reached such a degree of perfection that it would b: impossible to suggest an alteration or im provement, as they afford more comfort to the square inch than any article ever de vised. Weary men, weary women and in valids rejoice in them they can't help it, lor the chairs are so comfortable, so restful. The company carries a fine line of desks especially designed for perfect convenience, and, at the same time, to occupy the small est practicable space. Hopper Bros. & Co., 307 Wood Street. Stairways in no wise hinder the crowds from reaching this beautilul exhibit in north gallery; visitors are bound to see this elegant furniture, etc, no matter how much effort it costs. Now all fatigue is obviated by taking the elevator at the store, and reaching any or all of the floors where the immense and desirable stock carried by this firm can be viewed at leisure. Never were more inducements offered by Hopper Bros, than at this time; low prices have full sway, and most accommodating arrangements as to payments can be made. Intrust your inter ests to this reliable house and you will have every cause lor entire satisfaction. River NaTltatioD. Have you seen Mr. Arthur Kirk's minia ture locks in operation at the east end of Machinery Hall? If not, you should make this place of valuable information a visit the next time you go to the big show. It is one of the most interesting places in the hall. Everything works so smoothly and the manner in which the workings o'f this great invention are explained by Mr. Kirk makes one feel all the better for the visit Simplicity, durability and economy has been the study of the inventor, Mr. Kirk. You cannot mistake the place. It is the high raised platform at the east end of Machinery Hall. MILLINERY. Second Autumn Reception To-day (Tuesday), Wednesday, and Thurs day. " Jos.
