This town is agog over recent developments near here. Mr. M. H. De"Witt, oil operator of Pittsburg, leased the property of one Beltz abont a year ago. His lease expired abont five or six months ago. Since the expiration of DeWitt's lease Mr. Ben C. Slocnm, Jr., sand agent for Chambers & McKee, discoTered a ledge of sand rock on the same property, and secured a lease. He is now encaged build ing a sand crasher at the foot ot the 'Chest nut Bidge, and is abont to begin the erection of an incline to connect the ledge with the crasher below. Last Saturday DeWitt and a couple of gentlemen arrrived, and after prospecting a few days made preparations to take possession of the ledge and hold it by force against Mr. Slocum. They had made arrangements to have lumber hauled up this morning, and had engaged carpen ters to build a snantv on the ledge, and had engaged men to hold it against Slocum's iorce. But Mr. Slocum was not sleeping. He got wind of the move, and believing that possession was nine-tenths of the battle, se cured teams and a force of men and went up last night at 11 o'clock and built a shanty on the highest point of the ledge and awaited the coming of the enemy. When DeWitt's men arrived they were prepared to receive them and warned them to "keep off the grass." This they refused to do, but built their fort on lower ground. Both parties are now encamped on dis puted territory and trouble is anticipated to-morrow, as any move made by either party will be resisted by the other, both par ties Being determined to maintain their po sition. The citizens of Serry are to a man in sympathy with Mr. Slocum, as to him alone is due the discovery of this glass sand rock and by his effort's the crusher and incline, or Sand Bock .Railroad, as it is called, have been located. They will sup port him in any move he may make. EVEET MAN DEEW A KNIFE. A Serious Riot of Italian Laborer. Arrested at Brilliant. Brtlxiaxt, O., June 25. There were grave fears of a riot among the railroad men here last night It seems the contractors had delayed paying the Italian hands for some days, pntting them off with promises. Yesterday the men demanded their pay, or they would strike in the evening. All ar rangements were made to pay, when one Italian boy got very angry at the way he had been docked. The Italians crowded around the boss, and demanded that the boy's statement of his time be taken instead of that of the time keeper. The boss pulled his revolver and ordered all to stand ba'ck, which they relnsed to do, and in an instant every man had drawn a knife with which he threatened to carve the boss. That gentleman finally succeeded in get ting into his office nnharmed and the crowd dispersed. An amicable adjustment was made, and the men were paid off and are at work to-day. BESULTED IN A TIE. Mrs. Josephine Myers, wife of Mr. Jacob Myera, a well-known citizen of Allegheny comity, and who has lived for the past 20 years at Gleufield, has experienced sucn suffering as tew persons have and live. She had an almost endless number of conditions, among which were a dropping of catarrhal mucus into her throat, where it became very tenacious and bard to raise, and in the night on awaking it would so suffocate her that she could scarcely get her breath. She had much soreness in the side of her neck and throat. She had pain V 4 W Mrs. Josephine Myers. ver her eyes, and ner eyes became very weak. She often felt dizzy and had noises in her ears that sounded to her as if she had a steamboat in her head. As the disease finally extended to her lungs, she coughed, her breath became short and she felt a tightness in her cbest and aching pain between her shoulders. Her ap petite failed, and her stomach became so weak that food or even water would cause a . heaviness and burning in her stomach followed by nausea. She had pains across tbe small of her back and kidneys. She became bloated and took on a dropsical appearance. Nightsweats weakened her very last, bbe could not sleep and would arise in the morning more tired than on going to bed. THE FOLLOWING ARE HER OWN WORDS: "Although I bad doctored a good deal I got no better. Some -doctors said they could do nothing for me. I became discouraged and thought I never could be cured and that I would not live over a year. One day I hap pened to see in the paper an account of the snUerinc of Mrs. Kratt, of Verner station, which seemed something similar to my suffer ing, and how she became cured by the physi cians of tbe Catarrh and Dyspepsia Institute. This gave me some hope, and I therefore took a course of treatment from these doctors and have been entire! v cured of all my ailments. "Signed with my own hand. "MRS. JOSEPHINE MYERS."
