A wedding causing considerable talk on tbe Hill on account of the secret way in which the contracting parties went about it, leaked out yesterday afternoon. W. J. Robinson, oi Pride street, son of J. S. Rob inson, who is identified with several build ing and loan associations at No. 131 Fifth avenue, was married to Miss Mary Owens, of Banksville. The young lady's religious views conflict with those of the family of young Bobinson. On this account the mar riage was not sanctioned by the father of the groom, and be knew nothing of the wedding until told of it by a Dispatch reporter yesterday afternoon. Mr. Bobinson said, when told of the marriage of his son: "This is the first intimation I have had of my son's marriage. I do not approve of it, as be did not get my consent to marrv the young lady, of whom I know nothing. As "William is old enough to obtain a mar riage license withcut my consent, I, of course, could not prevent it." A call was made at the residence of Ber. Father Sheedy, who married the couple. Father Sbeedy said: "It is not customary to announces the marriages of persons from the pulpit it either one of the parties is a Protestant. I did not know Bobinson, and as he had 3 marriage license I could not re fuse to marry them. He told me he was stopping at the Keystone Hotel, on Fourth avenue, and as this is in my parish, I had to comply with the young man's request." Both parties are well known in social cir cles. The groom for many years has been connected wun the insurance hrm of J. D. Bigger! & Co., on Fourth avenue, where he holds a very important and responsible position.
