Eggs are firmer. Demand is good for all relia
ble stock. One of tbe heavy Liberty street
dealers said tbis morning: "I haven't an egg
left, having sold 7? cases to one man yesterday
at 12Kc per dozen." Potatoes are very firm at
quotations, and promise to go higher before
the week is out Apples are slow, for tbe rea
son that prices are bicb. Cabbage is firm at
quotations. Tropical fruits are quiet. The
principal thine complained of by commission
men is the difficulty of getting a sufficiency of
green stuff and vegetables for the market.

There was one sale on call at the Grain Ex
change, viz., a car of No. 1 white oats. 34c, 5
dajs, P. R. R. Receipu as bulletined, 29 cars.

Cincinnati and St. Louis. 1 car of bran, 2 of hay,

Western, 3 cars of hay. By Pittsburg and Lake

and oats arc firm at an advance over former
rates. Mlllfeed is weak, and holders are dis
posed to concede a little Railroad troubles
tend to stiffen prices in cereals generally. If
strikers bold out a few days there will be a
scarcitv of stuff. Spring patent floor cannot
now belaid down here and sold at present rates
with a profit. In fact, there will be a loss to
the jobber at present prices. Stocks are run
ning down and dealers are beginning to realize
that tbey cannot replace their goods and sell at
a profit. Offers were made to-day at 35c per
barrel greater (ban rates nf two weeks ago for
spring patent flours. Higher prices must come
and that very soon.

use or occupation of any street, lane or alley,
or any part thereof for any purpose by pas

panies operating passenger or street railways
and providing reasonable regulations pertain
ing thereto for the public convenience and
safetv," approved tbe 25th day of February, A.

Section I Be it ordained and enacted by the
city of Pittsburg, in Select and Common Conn'
cils assembled, and it is hereby ordained and
enacted by the authority of the same. That tho
Central Passenger Railway Company shall
have the right and consent is hereby given to
said company to use and occupy under
and subject to the provisions of
the general ordinance of the Coun
cils of the city of Pittsburg en
titled "A general ordinance relating to the en
try upon, over or under, or the use and occupa
tion of any street, lane or alley or any part
tbercor for any purpose by passenger or street
railway companies or by companies operating
passenger or street railways and providing rea
sonable regulations pertaining thereto for the

February 25, 1S90, all streets and highways and
parts thereof which the said company bas here
tofore been authorized or granted tbe right to

N ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
Jl. construction of a fewer on Cedar, Laurel
and Cayuga streets,from tbe crown near Liberty
avenue to a connection with Two Mile Run
sewer.
Section 1 Be itordainpd and enacted by the
city of Pittsburg, in Select and Common Coun
cils assembled, and it is hereby ordained and
enacted by the authority of the same. That
the Chief of the Department of Public Works
be and is hereby authorized and directed to ad
vcrtise in accordance with tbe acta of Assembly
of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the
ordinances of the said city of Pittsburg relating
thereto and regulating the same, for proposals
for tho construction of a pipe sewer on Cedar,
Laurel and Cayuga streets, commencing on
Cedar street, at the crown about 120 feet south
of Liberty avenue; thence along Cedar street to
Essex alley sew er, to be 15 inches in diameter;
thence to Laurel street sewer, to be 18 inches
in diameter; thence along Laurel street to
Taylor street sewer, to be 20 inches in
diameter: thence along Laurel street
to Cayuga street sewer, to be 24
inches in diameter, tbence alnncrCaynga street
to a connection with Two-Mile Run sewer, said
sewer between last mentioned points to be of
brick and stone and three (3) feet in diameter,
the contract therefor to be let in tbe manner
directed by the said acts of Assembly and or

Section 1 Be it ordained and enacted by the
city of Pittsburg, in Select and Common Coun
cils assembled, and it is hereby ordained and
enacted by the authority of the same. That the
grade of the center line of Dickson street,from
Thirty-third street to Brereton street, be and
the same is hereby established as follows, viz.:

On the construction of a public sewer on But
ler street extension, Everett street and private
properties, from Shakespeare street to Fifth
avenue and Butler street.
To the Seiocc and Common Councils of the
City of Pittsburg:
The undersigned. Viewers of Streetlmprove
ments in the city of Pittsburg, appointed bv
the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny
county, and authorized by an' ordinance passed
on the 18th day of March, A. D. 1889, a copy
of which is hereto attached, to make an assess
ment of the costand expense of constructing a
gublic sewer on Butler street extension, from
hakespeare to Fifth avenue and Butler street,
in said city, upon tho property benefited there
by, under the provision of and in accordance
with an act of Assembly of the Common
wealth of Pennsylvania, entitled "An
act authorizing and directing Councils of cities
of tbe second class to provide for the improve
ment of streets, lanes, alleys and public high
ways, sewers and sidewalks, requiring plans of
streets, providing for tbe appointment of a
Board of Viewers of Street Improvements, pre
scribing their duties, granting appeals to Coun
cils and court, providing for the assessment and
collection of damages and benefits, authorizing
the use of private property, and providing fur
filing liens and regulating proceedings thereon,

day of June. A. D. 1887. respectfully report:
That, having been first duly sworn and quali
fied according to law, tbey proceeded in the
manner and according to tbe directions of said
act. to discharge tbe duties of tbeir appoint
ments; that having viewed the premises, they
made an assessment of said cost and expense
upon the property benefited, and caused a plot
and statement to be made, as required by said
act, and having given to the owner of each lot
ten days' notice of the time and place of meet
ing, they met on the 12th day or April, A.
D. 1890, at the office of the Board of Viewers,
in tbe city of Pittsburg, beard all complaints
and evidence offered, and having made all
modifications and corrections which they deem
proper, assessed the cost and expense of con
structing said sewer upon tho following prop
erty, upon each for the amount set opposite tho
