ains. Local bricklayers employed on the Phoenix
ville. Pa., steel works have struck because
they are getting but 2 50 per day of ten hours,
while union men from Pittsburg are being
paid H 50 per day of nine hours.
The contest for the Blythe millions is near
ing an end at San Francisco. The principal
claimants are Florence Blrthe, 15 years old,
a natural daughter of the decedent, and Alice
Edith Dickson, who claims a verbal marriage
contract with Blythe.
Three bodies have been found in the
Lacbine canal at Montreal. One was Patrick
Cabill, a manufacturer, who disappeared on r-t.
Patrick's Day: another is M. July, who Iija
been missing lor nve weeks, and the third is an
old man uot identified.
Messrs. Maxwell, Harris and Leisenring,
officers of the Lehigh and Wilkesbarre Coal
Company, report that tiio recent disasters at
their collieries in the Wyoming mine region
were not due to incompetency on the part of
the supeiintendent or bosses.
