TOO FOXD OF HIS CLUB.
Mrs. Peters Kenon for Applying for a Chi
cago Divorce.
Chicago, March 29 Boss Peter, one of
the most prominent men on ice mcago
Board of Trade, was served -with divorce
papers yesterday, by his wife, formerly Miss
Marion E. Howard, of Brooklyn, trho
wedded Peters a few years ago. The wed
ding was a very stylish affair, and seemed
particularly charming by reason of the fact
that both parties were young, handsome and
Tery wealthy.
Mrs. Peters charges that Peters is so en
grossed with club life that he has no time or
Inclination to attend the demands of home.
From the time the couple commenced house
keeping, a fe weeks after their marriage,
Mr. Peters has been making her life misera
ble, and for many months has been coming
home nightly from 12 to 3 A. si., in a cab in
toxtcated. He awakes sometime before
coon and wants the morning paper at once,
and he has often pushed his wife out of bed
and compelled her to go and bring him his
favorite journal. Mrs. Peters is very fond
of amusement, particularly theater's but
Peters, she says, goes to the playhouses
alone, refusing to take her along. The last
time he accompanied her anywhere was to
the dog show, a year ago.
The bill concludes with a statement that
although Peters has failed to furnish his
wife with clothing, and viciously curses at
the bills ot the household, he is a constant
patron of the most expensive tailors in
America.
A SLT ENGLISH BOY
Telia Tale or Woe to the Castle Garden
Authorities.
Xi Tore, March 29. Twelve-year-old
Frank Clark arrived at Castie Garden sev
eral days ago from Liverpool. He told a
pitiful story of his endeavor to reach his
father, who, he said, was a compositor on one
of the daily newspapers in this city.
Senator Chandler, Chairman of the Con
gressional committee that visited the Gar
den recently, while here took quite an in
terest in the lad, and requested that every
effort be made to find his father. To-day
young Clark made affidavit that bis former
story was untrue and that he stole themorey
to pay his passage to this country. The
Hoy's father is a policeman in London. The
case will be considered by the Emigration
Commissioners.
A HISTERIOUS SHOT.
Etrange Story Told by n Wonndcd Forclener
In a New Jrrey Hotel.
PKIKCETON, K. J., March 29. About C
o'clock this mcrning a foreicner who gave
the name of Eberhardt Buchebrandt, was
shot in the Central Hotel. The proprietors
of the place say he shot himself, but accord
ing to his own story, as translated by a iel
low countrvman, the proprietors and he
played cards until a late hour, and after he
went to bed some one entered his room and
attempted to rob him. He tried to shoot
the thief, but the fellow knocked the pistol
so that the bullet entered his own temple.
Tue injured man came to this country last
month. He is evidently well educated. He
may live. The hotel does not enjoy a very
savory reputation.
