An Impression tbnl It Exist" Only In Fancy Quito a Prevnlrct Relief Tlmt iho r-ioclc Yard. Tlipmorlvra Will Go Ere tone ftaino Ganzr TnlU. Judging from what can be picked np at the East Liberty stock yards, the talk ot the Armours establishing a branch abattoir and packing house sceuis somewhat gauzy. Messrs. Dyer and Lougliry said they had heard the matter talked of a jrrc.it deal, but heard nothing tangible. Mr. Normecutt had heard nothing positive on the matter. Mr. McLaren, looking at it irom a real-cstate-broker's point-of-view, scouted the idea that such an establishment would ever he started at the stock vards. In the first place it was not convenient for shipment, and in the second it would pot be good business sense to locate such works on ground so valuable. He said that 10,000 an acre could be gotten any day lor the 47 acres the stock yards occupy, gotten in bulk, or54"0,C00, and of course cut into lots they would be worth twice that much. Mr. McLaren argued that it didn't pay, even now, to occupy the ground as "stock yards and would pay less each year. Speaking of improvements, extensions, etc, made oi late years to the yards, he said they didn't amount to anything weren't worth talking 01 a few hundred dollars' worth of lumber nailed together here and there, mak ing a great show, and he argued that no one seriously thought of making any extensive improvements connected with the stock trade or slaughtering. The drift of opinion in the East End seems to be that the stock yards have be come n nuisance that should'be abated and it would seem that only the conviction that the owners themselves will ficd it to their intertst to move them soon, keeps down the tendet-cy toward aggressive action. They think the company will not long maintain the yards on expensive land when it can oc cupy a better site on cheap land. It is said a feeling is developing among people who have paid fancy prices for ground in the Boulevard Square project and other similar enterprises, that the stock yards are neither companionable nor conducive to esthetic aste. It is likly there will not be much of a row unless the surrounding inter ests attempt to push the company faster than it feels inclined to travel. The yards when located were relatively as far out of the city as they would be now at "Wall's station. Some argue that they should be on Turtle creek or the Mononga hela river, so that the eflluvia would be car ried away, but people ot the Sonthside. who take water from the Monongahela "Water Company may perhaps think their bever age rich enough already. All this doesn't go to show that the Ar mours may not be coming here to occupy some other place. It is generally considered that such an institution might be mutually beneficial to this city and the Armours. Banner Unkinc Powder. fitlgj&igf i BAXAXA CAKE. Three-quarters enp of butter, tvo cups of white sugar, one enp of sweet milk, three eggs (whites and yolks beaten separately), or the whites only of six eggs, three cups of flour, having in it one measure "Banner" Baking Powder. Bake in jelly-cake pans, three layers; crush six ripe bananas, and spread them over each layer, except the top one, which should be iced with the follow ing boiled icing: Take two and a half cups cumulated sugar, half cup water, boil three minutes; when cool, add the whites of three eggs slightly beaten. DELIGHirUIi TEA, BISCUIT. Take one quart of flour, one measure "Banner" Baking Powder, and one tea spoonful salt; mix thoroughly and sift; then rnb in one tablespoonful cold shortening, and mix in with a spoon a pint of cold sweet milk or water (milk Is the best); this makes a dough too solt to be rolled; turn it out on your tray lid, well flonred, press with your hand to the desired thickness, cut in shapes, and bake at once in a very quick oven. When mixed with milk yon may leave out the shortening, if yoa p'refcr not to use it. If your oven is at "the proper heat, ten min ute's will suffice to bake them. Now is the season to keep on hand a surjply of "SCOTJEENE" to do all your house cleaning. There is no known article for 5 cents that will ro help through house cleaning and do it as well.
