The description of the man arrested at
Laredo, Ttx., as Murderer Tascott, tallies
very closely with that of the long missing
assassin. Other evidence tends to show that
the right person has finally been secured.
The method of his capture was somewhat
peculiar.
CniCAGO, August 8. Information jnst
received, lrom Laredo, Tex., gives the de
scription of the Tascott suspect under arrest
there. It tallies more closely with that of
the much sought fugitive than has been the
case in any previous capture! According
to details mentioned at length, the prison
er's appearance corresponds exactly with
the description contained in the reward cir
cular issued by the relatives of Snell, the
millionaire, for whose murder Tascott is
under indictment.
The scars on Tascott's elbows and legs
have counterparts upon the Laredo man,
and though there is no gold in the prison
er's lront teeth, a cavity which had once
heen filled is there. Tne arrest was the out
growth of a singular accident. Night be
fore last, about 8 o'clock, a young man
knocked at the door of Sheriff Sanchez's
residence and asked for supper, which was
provided for him in the hall.

Mr. Sanchez noticed something peculiar
about his lace which suggested the descrip
tion of Tascott. He went upstairs to get
the description, and while absent the servant
was aked who lived at the house, and when
the man was informed that it was the
SlieriU'he at once departed.
The Sheriff hurriedly took the direction
the young man went, and soon overtook,
bini and engaced in conversation with him,
and became convinced that the man corre
sponded in appearance with the murderer
ol Banker Snell. The man was taken to
the Sheriffs office, where a close examina
tion was made, and the Sheriff was satisfied
that he had the right man and locked
him up.
Diflerent names were given by the pris
oner, but he finally settled on that ot A. O
Delphine, of Concordia, Kan., where he
claims to have Deea at work as a fireman on
the night of the murder ot Banker Snell in
Chicago. lie has been loafing around in
Mexico for about two weeks, most of the
time with railroad men, two of whom came
to see him this morning and called him
"Newt," by which name alone he was
known among them.

There is a fac simile of Tascott's hand
writing attached to the circular referred to,
consisting of four lines of a letter, the first
linereadiDg: "What's the uso of our rush
ing." Sheriff Sanchez copied these words
on a piece ot paper, with the exception that
he wrote them, "What is the use," and
asked his prisoner to copy them.
The fellow did so in a disguised hand and
mechanically wrote the contraction
''What's" as it was in the fac simile writ
ing. He stated positively that he was never

Bliss Lizzie Knhlmun Marries nn Old-Time

"W. "W. Conway, formerly connected with
the various telegraph companies in this city,
and well known throughout the tro cities,
was married last evening to Miss Lizzie A.
Kuhlman, at the residence of the "bride's
aunt, Mrs. F. Sprcen, No. 1408 Carson
street, Southside. The ceremony was per
formed by Rev. Brand, and was witnessed
by a large circle of friends and acquaint
ances. The happy couple were the reeipiints
of many handsome and valuable presents.
They Mill leave in a few days for an extend
ed trip to the Eastern cities.

Ills Reported Serious Illness Denied by
Mrs. Liddell.
It was reported in Lawrenceville to-night
that ex-Mayor Bobert Liddell was seriously
ill. At his house Mrs. Liddell pronounced,
the report as untrue and said that some
b'usicess enemy had started the report, if it
was in circulation. Dr. Green also denied
it, ana said he had just left Mr. Liddell's
house.
When the reporter went to the house Mr.
Liddell was standing in the doorway, but he
went in at once, and the conversation with
Mrs. Liddell took place through a window.
A Fatal Accident on the Valley.
Thomas Powers and Charles Bobinson at
tempted to board a train, moving rapidly,
at Twenty-eighth street on the Valley Rail
road. Powers was thrown under the wheels
and killed. Robinson was thrown to the
ground, but was not seriously injured. The
body of Powers was taken to the Morgne.
He was 37 years ot age. He lived with
Mts. 1'ox, his sister, on Penn avenue.

Washington, August 8. A statement
has been prepared by Commodore T, N.
Wilson, Chief of the Bureau of Construction
and Repair, for the use of Secretary Tracy,
showing the condition of vessels of the navy
in progress of construction at time the new
administration entered upon its duties,
March 4 last. The report shows that con
siderable progress is being made upon the
"new navy."
Two Accidents at a Picnic
The pleasure of the German Evangelical
Church picnic, Southside, held at Shingiss
Park, was marred by a conple of accidents.
Mrs. Eimitter had her arm broken by a
limb of a tree falling on her, and Hildreth
Maull got knocked of the gangway while
boarding the boat

proportion, keeping tbe promise made four
months ago, when tbe reduction was made,
that when trade grew better they would in
creae. A syndicate has been nesotlitlog ltb the
owners of the famous John Brown Fort, at
Harper's Ferry, and a trade has about been
made. The syndicate is composed ot Washing
ton capitalists, and they propose to remove tbe
historic structure to the national Capital,
where It will be put on exhibition.

yer Luther R. Marsh, of the New York bar,
who at one time acquired an unpleasant
notoriety in connection with the fraudulent
practices ot the spook medium, Mme.
Editha Diss Debar, has been a pretty con
stant resident of this town for six months
past, and is here still. Ha is stopping with
John J. Huyler, real estate agent, whose
household includes, beside Mrs. Huyler, a
middleaged MiES Law, who is a recent ac
cession to this community from Borne un
known quarter, and who paints pictures.
Both ladies are reputed among spiritualists
to be gifted mediums.
Mr. Marsh's methods of life here are very
secluded, so much so that he is rarely seen
out of doors, and then only for short walks
for exercise after nightfall, and in unfre
quented 6treets. Ho refuses absolutely to
talk with reporters. The Huyler household
habitually isolates itself from curious
neighbors, and under present circumstances
is rigidly uncommunicative.
Mh Marsh is understood to have secluded
himself among congenial surroundings for
the purpose of giving his whole attention to
the completion of the elaborate work he is
writing on spiritualism. He purposes to
make the work a complete exegesis ot the
theory and practice of spiritual manifesta
tions from a Biblical standpoint He
maintains that the so-called spiritual mani
festations of the day are strictly akin to the
miracles recorded "by the Scriptures, and
are equally well authenticated. Incident
ally, he gives the story of his connection
with Mme. Diss Debar, and insists that she
is a wonderfully gifted medium, whose
ghostly pictures are in the main the gen
uine work of spirit hands; but he admits
that the medium in her normal state is base,
mercenary and wicked.
Mr. Marsh is now engaged in reading the
proof sheets of the closing chapters ot his
book, which is being printed at Buffalo and
will be issued from the press in October.

Incidents ofa Day la Two Cities Condensed
for Ready Reading.
An inqnest was held yesterday in the caso ol
Frank A. Richmond, killed by a cable car on
the Citizens' line striking the ice wagon on
the rear of which he was standing, on Franks
town avenne. The evidence went to show that
the occurrence was accidental, and the fury
so found, but at the same time recommended
that the company place a watchman at tbe
power house. John Rletland. an employe of
the company, thought Marks, tbe gripman, did
all that lay in his power to stop the car,
Mbs. McLean, who assaulted. Mrs. M. Wil
bert on tbe station platform of the Pittsburg
and Castle Shannon Railway, while tbe latter
was talking to Fred Kauif some days aco, was
sent by Alderman Lohrman to jail in default of
payment of 510 fine and costs. Mrs. McLean
said Kauff wonU pay the fine, bnt he did not
attend the hearing.
Me. Hoffxan. of the Department of Char
ities, states that A. G. West, the alleged Johns
town flood sufferer, was given a pass to the
home of his uncle, Portsmouth, O.. on tho
recommendation by the Mother Superior of
Mercy Hospital, and as a matter of economy,
to save the city the expense of his keeping.
Tun freight cars of tbe ML Washington In
clined Freight Plane are being rooted with
conjugated iron. Tbe cause thereof is that,
when repairs are necessary on the passenger
nlane, people are hauled on the freight cars,
and the roof will keep them dry in inclement
weather.
IT is said that some people are baying the
stock of the Library Hall Company at a
price that they expect to And profitable when
tbe building is sold by the Sheriff SeptcmDer
2, even though it never paid a dividend. The
total indebtedness of the company is 297,000.
Henist Beckeie, Charles Becker and Mary
Becker were arraigned before Alderman Mc
Kelvey, Allegheny, yesterday, on a charge of
assault and battery on Magistrate Drinker, of
the Twelfth ward. They were "held in RB0 ball
each.
On Wednosday C8.000 was distributed and 78
checks were cashed for Johnstown. Tbe rumor
thatthero was delay In paying out the money
was false. There has been paid in one aay
S37.000.
Tins Supply Committee of the Allegheny
Board met yesterday afternoon and gave ont
the contracts for the supply of meat, shoes,
clothing, eta, for the next quarter.
Mbs. Maby Roche, 70 years old, was almost
gored to death by an enraged cow at Grand
view. Wednesday. Tbe cow is owned by a man
named Florence.

Mbs. Leslie, of Wilmington, Del., is look

About 40 returned from there yesterday.
The report of tbe Humane Society for the
month of July shows a total'of 72 cases handled,
60 cases of children and 22 of animals.
