The B. & O. Offlcrn Jlqrt Come Down..
Frank bays tbc Wall Are Dnncrrons.
Yesterday Mr. "William Roseburg, trustee,
iras formally notified by Inspector Frank
that the building at the .corner of Firth ave
nue and 'Wood, now occupied by the Balti
more and Ohio Company, had been care
fully examined and must come down at
once.
The Inspector found that nearly all the
joists on the upper floor were damaged
or taken out He said the Filth avenue
wall leaned outward, being 2 inches out
of plumb in the 9 feet height in the first
story. The Wood street side, he said, also
leans outward and toward Fifth avenue, the
corner on Fifth avenue and "Wood street be
ing particularly dangerous. The rear of
the Filth avenue side, over the stairway, is
spreading both ways and is also especially
dangerous and liable to fall. ,
The owners of the building have 48 hours
in which to file an appeal from the Inspec
tor's decision to a board of arbitration. If
such appeal is not filed the Inspector will
place the matter in the hand ot the City
Engineer.

THE -BEST
SUNSHINE CAKE.
Take the whites of 11 eggs, beaten stiff,
iyi teacupfuls granulated sugar, measured
alter sifting; beat the sugar in gradually,
also the yolks of 6 eggs and 1 teaspoonful
extract of orange; stir into this 1 teacuplul
Sour, measured after sifting 4 times, and
thoroughly mixing 1 measure of "Banner
Baking Powder" through the dry flour.
Bake 40 minutes, slow oven, square tin pan.
"Some ladies have no doubt experienced
difficulty in securing the best results in
their efforts to bake fine cakcs.owing chiefly
to the use of inferior baking powders, which
are being continually urged upon them,
and purporting to be as good as the "Banner
Powder."
To speedily correct the baneful effects
that these so called cheap baking prepara
tions exert upon the human system, as well
as their utter failure to produce good re
sults in baking, resolve to allow no other
baking powder to enter the kitchen save a
99 per cent pure cream tartar powder and
your success is assured. This is the high
standard ot puritv which U maintained in
the manutacture of the old reliable "Banner
Baking Powder." This powder has been
tited in many of our very best families for
the last quarterof a century. Order a pound
can with the "Banner" recipe book from
your grocer; if he cannot supply the book
mail a postal card to B. B. P". Co., P. O.
box 245, Pittsburg, Pa., and we will mail it
to you lree.
AN IMPORTANT DEAL
Of the Westlnchonsc Air Brake Co. The
Verdict is Favor or E. G. Ilays it Co.
During the past two weeks a croup of
gentlemen, representing 28 employes of the
Westinghouse Air Brake Co., have been
soti -ed in the different music houses, ex
amining all first-class pianos sold in the
city. After a most thorough examination,
with the assistance of some of our best musi
cians, the "Mathushek" pianos carried off
the first honors, and an order for 28 of these
beautiful instruments was placed with the
firm of E. G. Hays & Co., 75 Filth avenue.
This impartial decision is only another tes
timonial added to the endless list in favor
of this popular instrument. This transac
tion concluded the largest sale of pianos on
record in the city.
Advance Ncitn for Monday.
2ine is an odd number, A very odd one,
but that's the figure which we intend shall
make things lively around our stores on
Monday. For to-morrow only we place on
our counters about 225 elegant tailor-made
suits, comprising imported cheviots, fancy
worsteds, globe cassimeres and corkscrew
diagonals, superbly made and lined with
the finest of silk finished serge, at the quick
selling price of 9. In the regular course
of trade these suits would go for $25 and $30,
but we want to sell 'cm all to-morrow and
our price is $9. This is our first suit sale of
the season and is for Monday only.

If you are not amply supplied with winter undeiwear and other .

FOR THE MONTH OF EFBRUARY.
HOPPER BROS. & CO.,
PIONEERS OF LOW PEICES, ever on the alert to better the condition of customers, '
and make it worth their while to go oat of their war to deal with ns, particularly at this
season of the year, when trade is light, hare reduced their prices in every department at
least 20 per cent. This holds good only for tbe month of February. All goods purchased- ,
during this Reduction Sale will be stored, ir necessary, for from 1 to GO days without cost.
We guarantee to show the largest line of Bedroom Suits in the city. Our 20 Antiqua
Suit'is a great favorite in the market. You should see it; everybody is astonished. Have
turned out some particularly nice Parlor Suits iu the last 60 days. Are not fighting with
competitors in this line to see who can sell the cheapest, bnt are fighting mighty hard to
give our customers better goods for less money. Our position to do so is from the'iact that- .
we make our own goods in this line. We furnish a honse complete from the cellar to the
attic. Our Carpet Department is the envy of most all dealers in carpets. And why should -we
annoy them? Simply because we do not depend on that department for any expense :
money, ft being a side line, hence we can undersell houses who deal exclusively in car
pets. We have also a full line of Stoves and Ranges (city make). These goods are posi-'. ;
tively guaranteed to be good bakers. Remember, we want your trade, and will do any
thing and everything legitimate to get it, and respect it after wc have it.
