Pvt, John W. Saxton, son of Mr.
and Mrs. John Saxton of Union
township, has recently received the
purple heart for having been wound-
ed in action somewhere in Italy, We
expected to have more information
along this line for our readers this
week but was unable to get it all to-
gether in time, John is getting along
fine according to last word received
from him by his parents
Little Miss Phyllis Parsons, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Parsons,
celebrated her second birthday on
Tuesday and her mother prepared a
big chicken dinner for the occasion.
No guests were present to help her
celebrate the occasion but she en-
joyed the chicken and all the trim-
mings
We were sorry to learn of the sud-
den death of Mrs. Harry Harper
which occurred on Monday morning
at her home in Union township. She
had apparently been in the best of
health and her death was a real
shock to her family and friends. We
wish to extend most sincere sym-
pathies to the bereaved family and
friends in their hours of sorrow
