Seaman Dies
In Accident
Harry Jack Smith, 28, of the U'. 5
Navy, died at 11:30 a. m. Tuesday,
September 19 as the result of an
automobile accident at Gulfport
Miss, according to a Navy message
received late vesterday afternoon by
his mother, Mrs. Charles A. Smith
of Valentine street, Bellefonte
No details of the accident
contained in the message
Seaman Smith was graduated
from the Bellefonte High School in
the of 1%] and entered the
Navy a short time later. While un
dergoing training at Sampson, N. ¥
he suffered a severe attack of men
ingitis and for a time his condition
was critical. He recovered and re
turned to service, having been sta
tioned in Mississippi for some time
His father is an employe of the
