Ebeling. 22, son of Mrs. Nora Ebe-
Hing, of West High street, Bellefonte,

sald the Infantry is bearing the
brunt of battle in World War 11. de-
spite the contention, now being dis-
proved, that the infantry was losing
its importance in modern warfare,
Cpl. Ebeling landed in North Af.
rica sometime after the original in-
vasion of that continent, but took

He was with the troops who landed
on Sicily on September 22, 1043, and
remained in fhe fighting until the
island was in Allied hands,

in May when he began the journey
home. Enroute to the United States
he spent a short time in Algiers,

a brief visit with Earl Heverly, of

Warner Co. Position
According to reports reaching
Bellefonte, Samuel M. Shallcross, of
Wynnewood, near Philadelphia, for-
mer vice president and general man-
ager of the warner Company plant
in Bellefonte, has resigned his posi-
tion as research engineer in the
Philadelphia offices of that com-
pany. It is reported that Mr. Shall
cross expects to engage in efficiency
engineering work in the Philadel-
phia area
He went to the Warmer Company
as treasurer in 1922 and three years
later was made vice president and
general manager of the local plant,
retaining that post until February
1042 when he aEcepied the research
position in Philadelphia. The family
moved from Bellefonte to Wynne-
wood at that time.
