Miss Mildred Louise Chambers,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cham-
bers, of Clarence, who has been em-
ployed as stenographer in the of-
fices of the J. H. France Refractor-
fes in Clarence, was one of a group
of women sworn into the WAVES at
the 4th Naval District offices at Phil-
adelphia Monday night. Miss Cham-
bers expects to be called into active
service about October 1. She is a

Centre County to join the WAVES.

The Junior Department of the
Bellefonte Woman's Club has re
ceived $66 from the Bellefonte
Moose Lodge for purchase of kits for
soldiers who are sent overseas. The
kits are being made under the spon-
sorship of the Bellefonte Chapter
of the American Red Cross. They
contain a variety of articles from
needles and thread to chewing gum
and playing cards. The articles are
purchased through the Red Cross
and assembled by the Bellefonte or-
ganization. Mrs. W. J Emerick is
