OBITUARY
DAVID R. GEISEWITE
David Royer Gelsewite, 71. died at
the home of his son, Ernest, of East
ville, Clinton county, early last
Thursday morning after a lingering
illness. He was a lifelong resident of
Sugar Valley and was a blacksmith
by trade. Surviving him in addition
to his son, are a granddaughter and
two brothers, Albert, of Carroll and
George, of Woodward, Funeral ser-
vices were held Sunday afternoon
at the Ernest Gelsewite residence,
with rites continued at the Breth-
ren church. The Rev, C. A. Schwenk
of Jersey Shore, officiated, assisted
by the Rev. John Boone. Burial was
made in the cemetery adjoining the
church

died late Friday afternoon at the

The attention of the Borough Auditors has been called
| to the possibility of a surcharge in connection with the
laying out of Shope Street as a public street under Ordin-
| ance enacted November 6 1839, and Ordinance enacted
September 18, 1940, in connection with the Resolution of
| Council of April 15, 1840. The Auditors, however, are un-
able to find sufficient basis for surcharge since the Resolu-
tion of April 15, 1940 is legislative in character and was
| not adopted so as to make it effective and the Ordinance
of September 19, 1940, was passed in contemplation of
| Pederal Works Progress Administration ald, which aid
was not furnished
