News of The Soldiers
Tyrone Boy Commended
Floyd P. Nestlerode, son of Mr
and Mrs. George E. Nestlerode of
Tyorne, who has been serving in
Hawail and who was in the thick of
things on the fateful morning of
December 7, at Pearl Harbor, has
been cited by his commander for
bravery while under fire. Private
Nestlerode is one of the many Ty-
rone boys who are located in Hawall
and who were under fire on that
fateful day, December 7. From let-
ters received from the Tyrone boys
in the Hawailan area it is believed
that none of the boys were injured
Returns to Duties
Corporal Ronald W. Harvey re-
turned to Fort Benning, Ga. to re-
sume his duties as instructor in radio
operation, after
day furlough with his parents, Mr
and Mrs. L. E. Harvey, of Miles-
burg. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey also have
another son in the service, Mahlon
Harvey, who is stationed at Fort
* Bragg, N. C.
Learns of Son's Injuries
Mrs. Flora Young of Orviston
ceived a letter recently from her son
M-Sgt. E. R. Young, telling of hav-
ing met with an accident in which
he received a broken leg, broken
left hand and a gash on the chin
when struck by an army truck while
riding to work bicycle on
morning of February 10. He is now
a patient in the General Hospital
at Fort Dix, N. J, where he was
taken from Mitchell Field, N. Y., the
scene of the accident. Sgt Young
has been an aircraft mechanic in
the U. 8. Air Corps for quite a num-
ber of years, and was recently trans.
ferred from the air field in Virginia
to Mitchell Field. He is married and

ter, weighing seven pounds, eleven

son of Col. W. Fred Reynolds, of
West Linn street, Bellefonte, and
Gordon Montgomery, of New York
City, son of the late J. L. Montgom-
ery, of Bellefonte, have enlisted in
the U. S. Navy, according fo word
received by friends here. Reynolds
bas a commission as a Lieutenant
Commander, and Monigomery also
is a commissioned officer. It will be
recalled that at the outhreak of
World War 1, Reynolds and Mont-
gomery were the first two Bellefonte
boys to enlist in the navy
Mr. and Mrs. Prank W. Millward
of Blawnox, former prominent citi-
pens of Pleasant Gap, are in this
area for a visit for a week or more
‘with reiatives and friends. They are
making their headquarters at the
home of their son and deughter-in-
aw, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Millward
and family, on East Logan street,
Bellefonte. Nearly two years ago
Mr. Millward retired after 27 years
of service as cashier at Rockview
penitentiary. He and Mrs. Millward
moved to Blawnox where they pur-
chased a8 farm along a main high-
way and opened up a service station
and restaurant. The establishment
received excellent patronage and Mr,
Millward finally atcepted an attrac-
tive offer to sell the property. At
the present time he can be classified
as being “retired” but in the near
future he expects to engage in some
other activity.
