Narehood, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Narehood, of Pine Glenn, relatives of the youth who had been reported killed in action at Hickam Pield, Hawaii, December 7, received notification from the U. 8. War De- partment that Narehood was not killed, but seriously wounded. Word that the soldier was not dead was received about 9:30 o'clock Sunday night by members of the Harry A. Beates home at Pine Glen, owners of the only telephone in the immediate vicinity Mrs. Beatles reported that the mes- sage to the Narehood family came from Pittsburgh and that it merely set forth that Narehood had been seriously wounded in action at the Hickam Field. It said nothing in regard to the report from the War Department last Wednesday to the effect that Narehood had been lost in action. While no members of the family could be reached yesterday, it is be- lieved that the supposed error re- sulted in the preparation of early casualty lists at Hickam Pield, and that a later check showed Narehood had not been killed.
