that memorial funeral! services were
scheduled to be held for Charles W.
Narehood, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Narehood, of Pine Glenn,
relatives of the youth who had been
reported killed in action at Hickam
Pield, Hawaii, December 7, received
notification from the U. 8. War De-
partment that Narehood was not
killed, but seriously wounded.
Word that the soldier was not
dead was received about 9:30 o'clock
Sunday night by members of the
Harry A. Beates home at Pine Glen,
owners of the only telephone in the
immediate vicinity
Mrs. Beatles reported that the mes-
sage to the Narehood family came
from Pittsburgh and that it merely
set forth that Narehood had been
seriously wounded in action at the
Hickam Field. It said nothing in
regard to the report from the War
Department last Wednesday to the
effect that Narehood had been lost
in action.
While no members of the family
could be reached yesterday, it is be-
lieved that the supposed error re-
sulted in the preparation of early
casualty lists at Hickam Pield, and
that a later check showed Narehood
had not been killed. '
Members of the Narehood family
had made complete arrangements

fo a Lewistown youth for driving an
overloaded truck. When the usual
ten days passed and the youth fail-

warrant was issued for his arrest
Last Thursday he was brought by
Pvt. Murofke, of the Philipsburg
State Motor Police, before "Squire
Moerschbacher. It was found tha! he
is working in the National Tube
Company plant at McKeesport, on
armaments, having become a welde;

The 'Squire called the officer to
one side. There was a short confer-

youth was being whisked to the
county jail at Bellefonte There the
officer conferred briefly with 8her-

signed and in a half hour the de-
fendant, who according to the rec-
ords at the jail had served one day
in that Institution was on his way
back to McKeesport to resume the
