—His Honor Judge Orvis held court
until .Saturday afternoon. Mr. Orvis
isn't president judge, but he has the re
spect of the people of Clearfield county

point of his field and had tho curiosity to
investigate it, upon doing so found sixty
four stocks the growth of one seed, all

that building on Thursday last a beautiful

securing the attention of the entire audi
ence to satisfy which he had to appear the
second time, after which F. M Blanchard,
F.sq., *ang, Mi**e* Nellie Kline and Lillie
Aikons executed a piana duo in fine style,
and again the entire class in full chorus
sang a choice selection.
The concert on Friday evening is said to
have been fully as enjoyable as the first.

hing. Flvery wash-basin has been fitted
up with Brewer i glass "trap,' and the
closets furnished with liemorest'* basin*,
perfect preventives to vile odors and nox
ious gases
The usual basin in slop-sinks is metal
with ptorcelain lining. In place of those,
which keen wholesome hut a short time,
solid psorcelain basins are used, which can
never corrode.
Surrounding the entire structure is laid
a continuous drain-pipe to receive the
clean rain water from the roof, which is
carried directly to and serves to flush the
main sewer.
The toil beneath tho kitchen, closet#,
laundrv, and work-rooms of tho hotel ha*
been or edged and replaced by about two
feet of dry frrwh sand, and over this the
air plays freely, having no sense of damp
ness, much less of stagnant atmosphere.
The Htockton is to-day the best sewered
and ventilated hotel in the country, with
out any exception, and the improvement#
made redound greatly to the lilieral enter

health and comfort of the patron* of the
house.
