FOR PURIFYING THE BLOOD.

Scrofula and Scrofulous AfTectioiis*ucli

OAKLAND, Intl., 6th June, 1859.
J. C. AYER & Co. Gents: 1 feel it my duty to a<%
i knowledge what your Sarsaparilla has done for me.
j Having inherited a Scrofulous infection, J have suffered
I from it in various ways for years. F<'metimes it hurst
out in Ulcers on my hands and arms; sometimes it
turned inward and distressed ine at the stomach• Two
yeam ago it broke out on my head and covered my scalp
and ears with one sore, which was painful and loathsome
beyond description. 1 tried many mediciuea and several
physicians, but without much relief from any tiling. In
fact, the disorder grew worse. At length I was rejoiced
to lead in the Gospel Messenger that you had prepared
an alterative (Sarsaparilla), for 1 knew from your roputa
i tin that any you made must be good. 1 scut to
rinciflnat rand got it, and used it till it cured ine. I took
it, as yon advise, in small doses of a teaspoonful over a
mouth, and used almost three bottles. >ew and healthy
skin soou began to form under the scab, which after a
while fell off. My ekiu is now clear, and 1 know by my
feelings that the disease has gone from my system. You
can .w ell believe that 1 feel w hat I am saying when I tell
you, that I hold you to be one of the apostles of the age,
aud reiuaiu ever gratefully. Yours,

Dr. Robert M. Preble writes from f-falem, N. Y., 12th

Dr. ,T. R. S. Charming, of New York City, writes ; " I
I most cheerfully comply with Iho request of your agent in

alterative in the numerous complaints for which w<

of tlie Scrofulous diathesis. 1 have cured many inveter

NF.w ORLEANS, 25th August, 1859.
I DR. J. C. AYF.r : Sir, I cheerfully* comply with the re
i quest of your agent, and report to you some of the effects
1 have with your Sarsaparilla.
; - I have cured with it, in my fractice, most of tho rom
; plaints for which it i 3 recommended, and have found its
; effects truly wonderful in tho euro of Venereal ami Mer
curial Disease. One of 1113' patients had Syphilitic ulcers
in his throat, which were consuming his palate and the
top of his mouth. Your Sarsaparilla, steadily taken,
cured liim in live weeks. Another was attacked by sec
ondary symptoms.in his nose, and the ulceration bad
eaten away a considerable part of it, so that I believe tho
disorder would soon reach his brain and kill him. But it
I yielded to myadministration of your Sarsaparilla: tlie
ulcers healed, and he is Well again, not of course without
j some disfiguration to his face. A woman who had been
i treated for the same disorder by mercury was suffering
from this poison iu her bone*. They bad become so sen
sitive to the Weather that on a damp day she suffered ex
: cruciating pain in her joints and boiii H. She, too, was
| cured OMirely by your Sarsaparilla in a few weeks, I
know from its formula, which your agent gave me, that
j this Preparation from your li.boraiory must be a great
; remedy; consequently, these truly remarkable results

AN apperient and Stomachic preparation
XRUN purified of Oxygon nnd Carbon by com
bustion in Hydrogen. ' Sanctioned by the highest
Medical Authorities, both in Europe.and the Uni
ted States, and perscribed in their practice.
Th e experience of thousands daily proves that
no preparation of Iron can be compared with it.
Impurities of the biood. depression of vital ener
gy, pale and otherwise sickly complexion indi
cate its necessity in almost every conceivable
pase.
Innoxious in all msladies in which it has been
tried, it ha'' proved absolutely curative in each of
the following complaints, viz:
In Debilitg, Nervous Affections, Emanciation,
Dyspepsia, Constipation, Diarrhota, Dysente.y In
cipient consumption, Scrofulous Tuberculosis, Salt
Rheum, Misnienstruation, Whites, Chlorosis, Liver
Complaints, Chronic Headaches, Rheumatism, In
termittent Fexcrs, Pimples on tic Fore, <f'c.
In cases of GENERAL DEBILITY, whether the ro
sult of acute disease, or of tho continued diminu
tion of nervons and muscular energy from chronic
complaints, one trial of this restorative has prov
ed successful to an extent which a descripiion nar
written attestation would render ciedible. Inva
lids so long bed-riijden as to have become forgot
ten in their own neighborhi od?, have suddenly
re-appearcd in the busy world as if just returned
from protracted travel iu a distant land. Some
very signal instances of this kind are attested of
female Sufferer?, emaciated victims of apparent
marasmus, sanguineous exhaustion, critical chan*
ges, and that complication of nervous and dys
peptic aversion to air and exercise for which the
physician has no name.
In NERVOUS AFFECTIONS of all kinds, and for
reasons familiar to medical men, the operation of
this preparation of iron must necessarily be salu
tary, for, ui like the old oxides, it is vigorously
tonic, without being exciting and overheating :
and gently, regularly aperient, even in the most
obstinate cases of eoitivehess without ever being
j 8 gastric purgative, or inflicting a disagreeable
sensation. .
It is this latter property, among others which
makes it so remarkably effectual and permanent a
remedy for Piles, upon which it also appears to
exert a distinct and specific action, by dispersing
. the local tendency which forms them.
In DYSPEPSIA, innumerable as are its causes, a
single box of these Chalybeate P.lis has often suf
ficed for the most habitual cases, including the
attendent Costinencss.
In unchecked DIARRIIOEA, even when advanced
toDvSENTBRy, confirmed, emaciating, and appa
i rcntly malignan'.- the effects have been equally
decisive and astonishing.
In the local pains, loss of flesh and strength,de
bilitating cough, and remittent hectic, which gen
eral y indicate INCIPIENT CONSUMPTION, this reme
dy ha 3 allayed the alarm of friends and physi
cians, in several very gratifying and interesting
instances.
In SCROFULOUS TUBERCULOSIS, this medicated
iron has had far more than the good efl'ect of the
most cautiously balanced preparations of iodine,
without any of their well known liabilities.
Tho attention of females cannot be too confi
dently invited to this remedy and restorative
the cases peculiarly affecting them.
Iu RHEUMATISM, both chronic and inflamatory
in the latter, however, more decidedly—it ha
been invariably well reported, both as alleviating

lilind and Bleeding Piles. In all Nervous, Khcnmatie, and
Neuralgic Affections, it has in numerous instances proved
highly beneficial, and in others effected a decided euro.
This is a purely vegetable compound, prepared on strictly
scientific principles, after the manner of the celebrated
Holland Professor, Boerhave. Its reputation at home pro
duced its introduction here, the demand commencing with
those of the Fatherland scattered over the face of this
mighty country, many of whom brought with them and
handed down the tradition of its value. It is now offered
to the American public, knowing that its truly wonderful
medicinal virtues must Ik acknowledged.
It is particularly recommended to those persons whose
constitutions may have been impaired by the continuous use
of ardent spirits, or other forms of dissipation. Generally
instantaneous in effect, it finds its way directly to the seat
of life, thrilling and quickening every nerve, raising up tho
drooping spirit, and, in fact, infusing new health and vigor
in the system.
NOTICE. —Whoever expects to find this a beverage whl
bo disappointed; but to the sick, weak and low spirited, it
will prove a grateful aromatic cordial, uossesscd of singular
remedial properties.
READ CAREFULLY!
The Genuine highly concentrated Boerliavo's Holland
Bitters is put up in hall-pint bottles only, and retailed at
ONE DOLLAR, per bottle, or six bottles for FIVE DOLLARS. The
great demand for this truly celebrated Medicine has induced
many imitations, which the public should guard against
purchasing.

WORD TO XHE'FUBLIO.
Whereas the Spring
Creek Woolen Manufactory, during the present
season, has been patronized to the lull extent of
ts producing abilities, and in anticipation of a
still grrater patronage the coming season, the
proprietors have been induced to add more new
machinery of the very latest improvements. This
machinery will facilitate our operations very much
and at the samo time will improve the real value
of out cloths at least ten per cent, while our pri
ces shall remain as heretofore; it being our ambi
tion to build up a reputation for this establish
ment that will add all things thereto. From tho
facts here n set forth wo confidently believe that
wool growers and all other- good peof le ean now
deal with us very much to their own advantage.--
While there are many things alike in business of
this kind, there is also much that is different. A
word to the wise is sufficient, Give us a call and i
satisfy yourselves that this is the place the peo
ple get the worth of their money.
