J. C. At:it A CO. Gents: I feel it my duty to no*
knowledge what your irarsHpaiiiht has done for me.
Having inherited a Scrofulous infecle-n t 1 have Buttered
from it in various ways fur years. Sometimes it Imrst
out in Ulcers on IUV hands and arms; sometimes it
turn.-d inward and distressed me at the stomach. Two
years ago it hn-Ue out on n; heiid and covered my scalp
and ORBS with one sore, whicit WAS painful and loathsoino
! beyond description. 1 tried many medicines and several
; physicians, but without much relief from any thing. In
fact, the disorder grew worse. At length L was rejoiced
to read in the Gospel Messenger that you had prepared
an alterative (Sarsaparilla), for 1 knew from your reputa
tion that any thing you made must be good. I sent, to
Cincinnati and got it, ami used it till it cured me. 1 took
it, as yon advise, in small doses of a teaspoonfnl over a
month, and used almost three bottles. New and healthy
skin soon begun to form under the scab, which after a
while fell off. My skin is pow clear, and 1 know by my
feelings that the disease hadDgoue from my system. You
can well believe that I feel what I am saying when I tell
you, that 1 hold you to be one of the apostles of the age,
; and remain ever gratefully. Yours,

Dr. J. B. S. Channing, of New York City, writes; "I
most cheerfully comply with the request of your agent iu
saying I have found your Sarsaparilla a most excellent
alterative in the numerous complaints for which w<
employ such a remedy, but e|veeially in Female Disease:
of the Scrofulous diathesis. I have cured many inveter
ate cases of Leuoorrlioea by it, and some where the com
plaint was caused by ulceration of the uterus. The ulcer
ation itself was soon cured. Nothing within my knowl
edge equals it for these female derangements."
Edward S. Marrow, of Newbury, Ala., writes, "A dan
gerons ovarian tumor on <she of the females in my family,
wjiirli had defied all the remedies we could employ, bai
at length been completely cured by your Extract of .Sar
saparilla. Our physician thought nothing but extirpa

Sarsnpnriila as the last resort before cutting, and it
proved effectual. After taking your remedy eight weeks
no symptom of the disease remains."
bypkilis and Mercurial Disease.
NEW On LEA VS. 25th August, 3859.
DR. J. C. AVER : Sir, J cheerfully comply with the re
quest of your agent, ami report to you some of the efieuts
1 have realized with your Sarsaparilla.
I have cured with it, in my practice, most of the com
plaints for which it is recommended, and have found its
effects truly wonderful i?> the cure of Venereal and Mer
curial Disease. One of my patients hwl Syphilitic ulcers
in his throat, which were consuming his palate and the
I top of liih mouth. Your Sarsaparilla, steadily taken,
j cured him in five weeks. Another was attacked by scc
; oudary symptoms in his uose, and the ulceration had
eaten away a considerable part of it, so that 1 believe the
! disorder would soon reach his brain and kill him. Rut it
l yielded to my administration of your Sarsaparilla; the
ulcers healed, arid he is well again, not of course without
some disfiguration to his face. A woman who had been
treated for the samo disorder by mercury was suffering
from this poison in her bouee. They had become so sen
sitive to the wvather that on a damp day she suffered ex
cruciating pain in her joints and bones. .She, too, was
cured entirely by your Sarsaparilla in a few weeks. 1
know from its formula, which your agent gave me, that
this Preparation from your laboratory must be a great
remedy; consequently^these truly remaikab'e results
with it have not surprised me.
Fraternally yours, G. V. LARIMER, M. D.

DR. J. C. AYER: Sir, J have been afflicted with a pain
ful chronic Rheumatism for a long lime, which baffled tho
skill of physicians, and stuck to me in spite of all the
remedies 1 could find, until 1 tried your Sarnaparilla. One
bottle cured me iu two weeks, and restored my general
health so much that 1 am far hotter than before I was
attacked. 1 thiuk it a wonderful medicine. J. FKEAM.
Jules Y. Getcliell, of St. Louis, writes: 44 1 have been
afflicted for years with au affection of the. Liver, which
destroyed my health. I tried every thing, and every thing
failed to relieve nic; and 1 have been a broken-down man
for some years from no other cause than derangement of
the Liver. My beloved pastor, the Rev. Mr. Espy, advised
me to try your gars&p&riUa. because lie said he knew you,
and any thing you made was worth trying. By the bless
ing of God it hoe cured me, and has so purified my blood
as to make a new man of me. I feel young again. Tho
best that can be said of you is not half good enough."

A great variety of cases have been reported to us where

Many remarkable cures of these affections have been
made by the alterative power of this medicine. It stimu

overcomes disorders whib would be supposed beyond its
reach. Such a remedy has long been required by the ne

AH apperient and Stomachic preparation of
IRON purified of Oxygon and Carbon by com
bustion in Hydrogen. Sanctioned by the highest
Medical Authorities, both in Europe and the Uni
ted States, ant perscribed in their practice.
. Th e experience of thousands daily proves that
no. preparation of Iron can be compared with it
Impurities of the blood, depression of vital ener
gy, pale and otherwise sickly complexion indi
cate its necessity in almost every conccivab'e
case.
Innoxious in all msladies in which it has been
tried, it ha proved absolutely curative in each of
the following complaints, viz :
In Debility, Nervous Affections, Emanciation,
Dyspepsia, Constipation, Diarrhwa. Dysente.y In
cipient consumption, scrofulous Tuberculosis, Salt
Rheum, Mismenetruatiou, Whiles, Chlorosis, Liver
Complaints, Chronic Headaches, Rheumatism, In
termittent Festers, Dimples on the Face, dec.
In cases of GSSERAI, DEBILITY, whether the re
sult of aeuto disease, or of the continued diminu
tion of nervons and muscular energy from chronic
complaints, one trial of this restorative has prov
ed successful to an extent which a description nor
written attestation wouid render ctcdible. Inva
lids so long bed-ridden as to have become forgot
ten in their own neighborh' ods, have suddenly"
re-appeared iu the busy world as if just returned
from protracted travel in a distant land. Some
very signal instances of this kind are attested of
female Sufferers, emaciated victims of apparent
marasmus, sanguineous exhaustion, critical chan
ges, and that complication of nervous and dys
peptic aversion to air and exercise for which the
physician has no name.
In NERVOUS AFFECTIONS of all kinds, and for
reasons familiar to medical men, the operation of
this preparation of iron must necessarily be salu
tary, for, u like the old oxides, it is vigorously
tonic, without being exciting and overheating ;
and gently, regularly aperient, even in the most
obstinate cases of costivehess without ever being
a gastric purgative, or inflicting a disagreeable
sensation.
It is this latter property, among others which
makes it so remarkably effectual and permanent a
remedy for Piles, upon which it also appears to
exert a distinct and specific action, by dispersing
the local tendency which forms them.
In DYSPEPSIA, innumerable as are its causes, a
single box of these Chalybeate P.lis has often suf
ficed for the most habitual cases, including the
attendent Costivevess,
In unchecked DIARRHEA, even when advanced
to DrsKNTEHy, confirmed, emaciating, and appa
rently malignanb the effects have been equally
decisive and astonishing.
In the local pains, loss of flesh atid strength,de
bilitating cough, and remittent hectic, which gen
eral y indicate INCIPIENT CONSUMPTION, this reme
dy has allayed the alarm of friends ana physi
cians, in several very gratifying and interesting
instances.
In SUROPCI.OUS TUBERCULOSIS, this medicated
iron has had far more than the good effect of the
most cautiously balanced preparations of iodino,
without any of their well known liabilities.
The attantion of females cannot bo too confi
dently invited to this remedy and restorative
the cases pceu liarly affecting them.
Iu RHEUMATISM, both chronic and inflr.mutory—
iu the latter, however, more decidedly—it ha;
been invariably well reported, both as aliaviaticg
pain and reducing the swellings and stiffness

ANCIENT JERUSALEM.
A LARGE AN D B EA U T I F U L
ISO METRICAL PICTURE
OF JERUSALEM
AND THE SACRED PLACES
AS THEY APPEARED .N ANCIENT TIMES. ;
i
rnilF. above work is commended to the favora
* ble notice of clergymen, and those having
charge of Sunday-schools, Bibfe-elasses, and pub
lic institutions.
It is about nine feet loDg and six feet wide, col
ored and varnished, and mounted on canvass with
rollers.
It has been constructed from the raest reliable
and authemic sources, and will be found an in
valuable aid to those engigcd in lecturing on the
Holy land, or imparting instruction to school
classes on the subject to which it refers,
It aims to gi\ e an exact id' aof the city as it
appeared in ancient times. It is taken as a *birds
eyo'or 'balloon' view, the beholder being, in im
iigiiiutioii, placed at a considerable olovation, so
as to take a comprehensive view of the city and
of the whole country for some distance around.
The view is accompanied with an Outline Key,
in which he different localities are numbered
and a descriptive manual containing all the in
formation necessary to enable one to use the vie
to anvantage in teaching or lecturing.
THE SUNDAY-SCHOOL TIMES,
rllis is a Weekly Religious Paper, published
at the very low prici of
CNS DOLLAR A YEAR.
It is designed for Parents, Teachers,-and all
who are engagod or interested in the religious
traning of the young. It is also an excellent Fam
ily Paper.
A portion of the Sunday School Times is occu
piod with NARRATIVES and other matter par
ticularly interesting to young persous. Teachers
will find is it much that they will like to read
to their classes —interesting matter prepared ,o
their hands, and such as they cannot find else
wheie. For the same reasons, members of Bibie
classes, and older scholars generally, will be great
ly benefitted by the perusal of this paper.
The Sunday School Times has every week a re
port of the choicest matter, selected from the
NOON PRAYER-MEETINGS, which are so in
teresting to all classes ot Christians.
Besides a large amount of general religious in
telligence, tho Sunday-School Times containes all
the most recent Sunday school news. It reports
all important CONVENTIONS of Sunday-school
teachers. It discusses the questions which most
interest and perplex teachers and parents, respecf
i g the various methods of religious training lor
the young, the means of gaining the attention and
the affections of children, and especially of secur
ing their converscn and bringing them to Christ.
The subject of MISSION-SCHOOLS for cities,
and of Sunday-school missionary work for the in
terior, is thoroughly canvassed. Indeed, there is
hardly a topic of practical importance to any who
are interested in the subject oi religious education,
which is not here brought under consideration
from week to week.
The conduct! rs of this paper endeavor to re
member that the great, end of all Christian effort is
to briny men to Christ. They aim, accordingly,
to pet into every number ef-the paper something
which shall have for its direct object the conver
sion of souls.
