Grand Opera is Only
Wall Street's Hurdy Gurdy
In Wall Street, Otte H.
Kahn is the unques
tioned leader in music.
There is a wide gap
between acting as the
guardian angel for
ailing railroads and performing the same
role for ailing musical institutions, but Mr.
Kahn finds his diversion in bolstering up
such well-known opera companies as the
Metropolitan, the Chicago, the Bosten and
Century Companies.
He can frequently be found in the "family
circle" at the Metropolitan Opera Heuse,
giving attentive heed te the comments
being made .around him.
Jeseph Kaye has written an instructive as
well as highly interesting article about the
big business men of America who are pat
rons of music.

The Genesis and Revelation
of a Popular Here
By Jay E. Heuse
Being an intimate portrait, by a popular
humorist, of Senater Capper, of Kansas,
"the Other Bryan" Who and What He
Is and What He Will De.
"If Senater Capper sat for a portrait of William
Jennings Bryan, the public would recognize the like
ness and probably would congratulate Mr. Bryan upon
its faithfulness. Fer, like Bryan, Capper has no habits,
no vices. He does net chew, smoke or drink. He is
net addicted te profanity in any form. He lacks the
speculative sporting instinct which draws men
together around a card table and wherever odds are
posted. It is likely he hasn't been out till 4 o'clock in
the morning since he ceased te be a reporter en a
morning newspaper. Capper lacks Bryan's gift of song and his fanatical zeal. But
waiving purely external and physical phases, either could sit for the portrait of the
ether."
This is a character study that will interest while it amuses. Senater Capper was one
of these upon whom the November upset laid a heavy hand, but he is none the less
interesting because of his retirement from Washington political life. He is still the here
of the Capper Publications and the plain people. Read this article and knew Senater
Capper.
