CONWAY TO SUBSTITUTE
Although practically nil of the school
boy elevens have ended their seasons
and the moleskins have been put away
for another jear. there are two teams
that have a little argument te settle.
The argument reneerns the cham
pionship of the Catholic Scheel Font Fent
'all League. The two parties te this
battle are Catholic High Scheel and
Villanea Prep. The stage will be the
Phillies Rail Park, and the time .T :.10
tomorrow afternoon.
It Is the play-off game of the league
These teams hv winning en Thanlts-
Klving Day ended the season In n dead
lock, and at n meeting of the le.ig i
rfficlals it was decided te held the play
off tomorrow afternoon.
It Is the second straight year that
the league season has ended in n ti.
Three elevens. St. Josephs, Vest
Catholic nnd Villaneta. figured in tli
deadlock at the conclusion of the 1021
campaign. In the play-off St. Jeseph
Prep defeated Villanntn Prep after the
latter had humbled West Catholic High.
This gave Ileine Miller's bejs the
crown.
Catholic High nnd Villaneta Prep
are both putting en the finishing touches
for the game at theie respective
battlegrounds. The former has been
working out dally at Cahill Held, and
Coach Cefnll says his preteges are all
In geed s-hape for the fruv.
One unfortunate thing, however, has
occurred te one meniDer of the Catholic
uuad. On Wednesday the grandmother
of Joey Maxwell, the star end of the
Purple and Celd, died, and the funeral
will be held tomorrow morning.
There is doubt ns te whether Maxwell,
will be In the Catholic line-up when the
team takes the Held. Should Maxwell
fail te pluy Conway will be ut right
end.
Hughie McGechan has been pushing
his preteges with much vigor out en the
gridiron adjacent te the school at Villa
nen.4 Jack Cenlin, the right guard nnd
captain of the team, who lias been out
of the line-up with a broken shoulder,
mav be uble te play. l'ier) thing pe.
slide will be done te try te brace the
injured member nnd allow him te pl.n
if only for a few minutes.
When Villanewi Prep and Catholic
clashed in the regular season a ll-te-14
tie resulted. The Main Liners led at
half time. Catholic assumed the lend
in the third period, and then in tin
llnsl quarter die hidden ball trick was
worked for a touchdown. This tied the
score.

despite the defeat nt the hands of Nor

of the season en Sunday when the
Mount Airy eleven will Invade Cliften
Heights.
Manager Gallagher snys the sudden
reversal last week was the biggest sur
prise of the season nnd took his player
right off their feet as they did net even
figure Norwood of having even an out
side chance te win.
He hays the reason for the setback
was easily explained in the work of
his team and tee much Turkey Day
football was the answer. Cliften hat'
played a hnrd game with East Falls
in the morning nnd then all the players
pleyed elsewhere in the Hfternoen.
Twe games In one dny was tee much
and the team snowed it en Sunday
After Norwood pulled the mirprise of
crossing the uutten goal line the players
reallied what they were up against
but were unable te respond.
"We nre net in the least discour
aged," said Manager Gallagher, "nnd
de net wish te detract ene bit from
Norwood's victory, although any fair
minded fan will readily see from the
record of the two tennis which is the
better. We had all along thought that
the real championship game would be
played with Delce and that will prob preb
