them te come. And some one conceived
the bright idea of opening the ball with

terest the social public. The first year
they Invited the students of the Acad
emy of the T'lnc Arts te dance nnd had
a most stunning
In a year or two the committee had
tn even better thought nnd decided te
have an opening pageant in which mem
bers of the younger set end some of the
younger martled folk would dance. That
idea was carried out with BUCh success
that the Charity Hall Ih new n real
eecinl event and no one would think
of missing It.
It's true that the subscription list is
net strictly exclusive, but a very fash
ionable set of people attend and the
opening feature is nlways beautiful.
The pageant before the ball proper

First the lady of the moon, Mrs. James
N. Anders, appeared, accompanied by
Mr. Charlie Morgan, the director and
