As is usual in such cases they tried
te include tee much of the stage play
upon the screen. It has resulted in n
Miperlluity of subtitles, some of which
fall te achieve the humor of the spoken

As a whole, it may he

There are moments when Iiev'. ner ner

LIONEL ATWILL IS
A BIG KEITH HIT
Dramatic Star Offers Gripping
Playlet Hackett and Delmar
Score in Nevel Act
Keith's N'e matter what your taste
ninv be, you'll find something te gratify
it in the semewhnt comprehensive und
pace-making show en view.
Frem high-class drama te farce, nnd
from grand opera te acrobatics such
are the contrasts of entertainment which
give nn nbundance of laughter, tears
nnd thrills. -
Lionel Atwill, recent star of "The
Grand Duke" nnd prominent in ether
legitimate suece-es, was the outstand
ing lilt of the hill. He appeared in a
somewhat gripping tdayet called "The
White-Fared Foel." by Fdgar Allan
Woolf. This is by far the most nin nin
bitieiiH piece of writing, vaudeville or
otherwise, that Mr. Woolf has evei
done.
The story, which i.s net entirely orig
inal, tells of the troubles of Dejazct, a
French actor, who despairs of success en
his opening night en account of do
mestic I reubles. He doubts the fidelity
of liis wife, nnd when he sees her star
ing nt him heartle-uly from the audi
ence it drives him te the point of
frenry. The result is Hint he gives a
performance which is hailed as n tri
umph. In his dressing room Dejnzct
is confronted with his wife, who infeims
him that lier supposed indifference and
hatred were assumed te Inspire the irv
mood which lie depleted in the rhnr
iti ter. Nine curtain calls and a (p
mnnd for n speech attested te the appre
ciation of the nuillenee. Mr. Atwill
was supported by an excellent east.
In a somewhat dazzling revue rn
titled "The Jewel Case." .Teanette
Hackett and Harry Delmar also scored
emphatically. The costumes, and ihe
girls tee, for that matter, would be an
nset te any Ureadwny production This
little show in itself overflows with nov nev
ilties and n-w ideas.
Incidentally. Miss Hacked ptc-ents
ridliim-triinmed gowns prebabh for the
