PHILADELPHIA Jemeers rhllntelphia Stock Exchange, Xew Yerk Cotten Eichangt Spruce 3881 Race 7938 4&C fTuet Why Bends Are Still Cheap The average investor knows new that bends were cheap in September, 1920, yet they are perhaps cheaper today than they were then. Purchasing power is the true measure of the value of money. Therefore the measure of the real value of a bend is the- amount of commodities for which it may be exchanged. A recent financial editorial pointed out that, en the basis of 100 in September, 1920, the purchasing power of money is today 140. During the same period the average price of 10 representative bends has increased from 75.85 te 89.15. While the price of these bends has increased only 17.5 per cent the purchasing power of the coupons has increased 46 per cent. The purchasing power of income from bends has increased faster than the market price of bends. Bends at present prices are therefore cheaper by comparison with commodities than they were in September, 1920, Investment suggestions may be had upon request. Harrison. Smith & Ce.
