Jnmes Watts, one of the featured
comedians of "Splcc of 11)22," the
new muslcnl revue which will be pre
sented for one week only at the Walnut
Street Theatre beginning Monday,
started his theatrical career in the com
pany of J. C. Williamson, playing
"Florndera," "The Bellc of New New
Yerk" nnd ether muslcnl comedies In
Australia.
Ills work In these operettas led
Watts te try for grand opera and he
studied in a Melbourne conservatory,
and later ln Italy, finally nrrlvlng in
Londen ln 1013, where he continued his
volce training.
Then he accepted an engagement in
"Helle Hngtlme," a revue in which
Ethel Levey was appearing in Londen,
nnd Watts' female Impersonations were
such n success that he never again tried
for epern. Fer three seasons he hns
appeared ln "The Greenwich Villnge
Follies."
