Can he exist decently en $15.54 a week?
That's the average pay of 170,000 clergymen.
Dees he have te de odd jobs te earn feed
for his children? Dees his wife get her
clothes out of the annual barrel of cast-off
garments sent by the congregation ?
Hew much a week de you yourself give for
his services ? The average church member
gives nine cents. That's net a tithe. It's
hardly a tenth of a tithe!
While the cost of living has gene up 60 per
cent and mere, and even the pay of church
janitors has been raised 50 per c6nt, min
isters' pay has increased en the average only
10 per cent.
Are you sure of the conditions in your own
church ?
If you have a conscience, it will net let you
rest until you find out who is te blame and
what you yourself can de about it. Only a
few cents mere each week are needed.
