Mr. McKean was a prominent .figure
In the nodal and sporting life In thin
city and was Internationally known as
t horseman. He was the eldest son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Themas
McKean. his mother having been Mlsx
Elisabeth Wharten, a sister of Mrs.
Geerge Bekcr, who. you remember, wna
head of the Monday evening dancing
classes before Mrs. Frederick Thursten
Masen.
Mr. McKean was a descendant of
'Governer McKean of Colonial times,
and a grandson of the late Mr. Henry
Pratt McKean, who built the house at
1925 Walnut street, which new la occu
pied by the Edward Steteabury.
When Mr. Tem McKean lived there
and entertained se much he decided te
build the next two houses for two of
bis married children, Mrs. Allen and
Mr. Tem McKean. Net long after his
death the property was sold te Mr.
Btetcsbury, who later purchnned the
house at 1021 and transformed the first
and second floors into a large ball
room, adjacent te me larger nrirau nrirau

Mr. McKean was married twice. His
first wife was one of the Shaws, of
llosten. and she returned te that city
tn live after her divorce. Their two
mnnn nke live in New England. Harry
Jr., having married Ellzaneth Lee and
lives at Beverly Farms, Mass., while
Quincy Shaw McKean lives with his
mother.
Mr. McKean's necend wife was Miss
Margaret Riker. They were married in
1914 and have traveled considerably
since, though n geed deal of their time
has been spent at their country home,
Pine Rim Farm. Penllyn.
Besides his wife and two sons; Mrs.
McKean is survived by a brother,
Themas McKean. and two sisters, Mrs.
Allen and Mrs. Norten Downs.
