forestall threatened political censorship
of plays en New Yerk's "White Way,"
representatives of the various Interested
groups, Including theatre managers, yes
terday'perfected plans for the operation
of a jury system te sit In judgment en
all productions. Authers, playwrights
and mnnagcrs, under the plan, pledge
themselves le accept the jury's diclslens.
The proponents will seek te put
"teeth" into the nntl-pelitlcal censor
ship plan bv gaining the co-operation
of the municipal authorities. Te de
that a special committee headed by
Channlng Pollock, of the Dramatists'
League ; WHUam A. Brady, of the pro
ducers, and Ocorge Creel will call en
Mayer Hylan next week and ask official
sanction of the plan.
Ne jury will be called te pass upon
n play until legal complaint against
the production has been ledged with the
city authorities.
In the event the jury votes n piny te
be Immoral or otherwise objectionable,
the producer will have one weck In
which te delete and change the por
tions objected te. If It is then found
objectionable It will be removed from
the stage. It was announced that nil
of the theatrical interests, representing
eighty-seven plays new showing in New New
Yerk, had agreed te abide by the find
ings of juries.
