A DAY SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
Kindergarten and Elementary School College Preparatory and General Courses
Junior and Senior High Schools For Boys Through the First Grade
Corps of Experienced Teachers, College and Professionally Trained
The School aims to secure whole-hearted purposing and planning on the part of the pupil herself, and to
enable each girl to work out in relation to others the purposes she forms. By discovering each girl's needs,
interests and powers, the Stevens School supplies the particular environment, social, mental and physical, which
will induce truly educative activities on her part. Under these conditions a girl becomes eager to learn; the
knowledge gained is assimilated by use; and the attitudes most essential to worth-while living, such as self-control,
initiative, power of independent thought, ability to form judgments and to make fine discriminations, whole
some love of work, and the sharing of activity for the general good, are acquired. In other words, education at
the Stevens School is life, instead of a preparation for life fifteen or twenty years hence.
The School is easily accessible from all parts of Philadelphia and its suburbs.
If you desire the best education for your daughter, enter her as a pupil in the Stevens School. The
enrollment is limited.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Last year our school was overcrowded, but
we thought we could not afford to rnqve
from under the protecting hand of Penh's
statue, where we have worked successfully
for 45 years. This year building altera
tions make it necessary for all tenants to
vacate and thus the impossible of a year
ago seems perfectly natural now. Indeed,
once you make up your mind, the impossible
is easy. With Emerson we believe that
every change forced or otherwise that
comes to a man is always the door to a
bigger opportunity if he will but see it and
use it. Already we see ours. We know
the Brown Prep Plan has wonderful value
and with bigger opportunity we confidently
expect, through it, to serve thousands where
we now serve hundreds. Therefore, we
face the future not only hopefully, but
expectantly, confident in the knowledge that
increased service is increased success.
After Monday, September 5, we shall be in
our new home, Broad and Spring Garden
Streets, where we shall be glad to see all
our friends, both old and new.
Entrance on Spring Garden Street
EDUCATE FOR SUCCESS. Every, one has the right to an educa
tion that is an assured basis for future success. The education
that does not guaranteo your success is not worth having. Failure
to get a real education is the mistake of a lifetime one you can
avoid. Real education the development of the natural forces of
the individual to the point where he wants to know; to the point
where he has the will and determination to use what he knows for
his further advancement is success education. For one who wants
to know, knowledge is everywhere. Power to do, a strong forceful
character a success character comes from the actual use of your
natural forces, and in no other way. Used intelligently, used with
the confident assurance of practical results, failure is impossible,
for it is impossible to use any natural force intelligently and not
increase power.
This is the Brown Prep plan of education, and has been used by U3
with marked success for more than 40 years. We make the develop
ment of the student the direct aim of his educational work. It
develops initiative and self-reliance in the student, increases ef
ficiency, and saves time. Best of all, it develops in the student the
consciousness of power to do something every successful man has,
but which knowledge alone never gives.
We prepare for any college, professional school, the State Board exams,
and for business, and at the same time begin in you. a real education
growth, development, power.
