I THINK the world and his wife havo
gone to Long Island this week to the

I'hllndclphlans nre there too und have
entered Into the tournament. The ten
nis Is at Forest Hills, you know, nnd
of counsc every one Is much interested
to see Suzanne IiCnglen piny. Kvrry
one savs that we hnvc no one who rnn
beat her, but that remains to be seen.
And it was seen, Mrs. Mnllorv beat
hr yesterday. Mm. Gilbert Harvey,
of Chestnut Hill, Is taking part in
the tournament, nnd so nre Phyllis
Walsh nnd Mrs. M. C Huff nnd De

HAVE jou seen the grand standi 'that
nre building out nt Manhelm for
the great tennis week hero? The stands
are very high nnd built right In the
middle of the cricket crense. It looks
like an old-time nrcna, only the ends
of the arena are not up jet. Some one
looking nt it said she thought the plny
s would feel like early martyrs being
led in, because there is just the one
court nnd tlie plnjcro will come In in
pairs, to show whnt they can do It s
ioliig to be n great time methlnketh.
Perhaps you wonder why I do not "ny
methlnks. Well it just seems ns it it
might be n good idea to say Mimetulng

To return to Mnnhclm: I told jou, 1

thrown Into deep mourning, it wan de

five or six months and only recently
returned. Marian Taylor, who is en

Sir. Newboid's niece incidcntully, went
abroad with them nnd ban been study

She has a sweet voice, you know, nnd
uses it very well. I doubt not thnt
she will do n great deal with it on her
return home.
Anna New-bold is to be introduced nt
a tea nnd there will be several falls
given In her honor during the winter.
Her sister. Mrs. Steve Colhoun, will
