Chleago, Aug. 2. Wheat started
with September ',4c lower to 1c higher
nnd December unchanged. Trade was
active and mixed, with prominent com
mission houses on both sides. Selling
was mostly by cash houses. It Is re
ported, however, that bids sent into
Indiana. Ohio nnd Illinois Inst night
attracted very few acceptances. Ite
eeipts inspected yesterday were 11.220
ears, against 375 cars a year ago.
The rash markets were steady, with
a good demand for offeriiiRS on the
open market. A larRP share of the re
ceipts are being applied on previous
sales. Weather conditions are Renernlly
unsettled and will tend to retard farm
work. Country offerings to arrive nre
on the decline, with ninny growers re
fusing the reduced prices recently

with John W. Worthingtnn nnd Owen
T. Kvnns, in charges relntlng to mail
robberies totaling nearly $0,000,000,
were being pushed. They uecllncd,
however to announce whether more ar
rests hnd been made.
Worthlngton, who has figured in sev
eral previous sensational cases, and
Kvnns, a former bank exnmincr, wcro
taken into custody at the Centrnl Se
curities Co., of which they were presi
dent nnd vice president. The District
Attorney's office indicated that this con
cern was believed to bo the medium
through which stocks nnd bonds tnken In
the big mnil robberies of recent months
hnd been sold.
The present Indictments weie returned
secretly nnd their existence did not bo

"ghost," a tall bewhiskered figure, ap
peared to Harold Mourar, son of the
farmer, and told him where n pot nf
gold was hidden. The figure then dis
appeared. Other members of the house
hold also saw the figure at various times
around the big barn.
Early yesterday Mr. Mourar found the
"figure" about to milk a cow and when
he grabbed the "ghost" ho found It
wns flesh nnd blood. The "ghost" con
fessed thnt he had been living In the
barn since .Tanuury and that hu milked
the enws and stole eggs to fe'cd him
self. He had a "ncut In tho haymow
nnd had all his belongings nrranged
nicely thero. It Is believed the mnn
escaped from some institution.
