F" 3ATURES of Charlei Ray's "The

terior locations. It took several weeks
fo Mr. Rny and his staff to scout for
"locations to be used in the plcturiza

poem.
1 Of particular importance to the story
was tne choice of locale for the "swim-mln'-hole"
scenes, and the stnfE chose
one after another location, only to
have Cameraman George Risard discard
them.
' i- When finally the artistic eye of
Risard had been satisfied, Mr. Ruy
went to the pwner of one of the oldest
Spanish grants in Southern California
to obtain permission to use the shaded
pool which was located within his do
main. But th? crfaty landlord evidently rec-
"ognlzed Mr. Ray. and would not con
sent to its use for plcturUatlon until
he had obtained the star's signature to
a lease for one acre of ground sur

Miss Hollister made her first M'recn
appearance about eight 3 cars ago in a
picture directed by Sidney Olrott for
Kalem. She had gone Smith to visit
with her husband, who was at that time
a cameraman for the Kalem compHti),
and Mr Olcott. who was then casting
a new picture, saw in her the vcrj tjpu
he wanted for a certain part. He of
fered her tho role and she accepted.
Miss Hollister has now been in the
Western film capital for more than a
year, and during that time she has
played many important roles in screen
production. She will be recalled for her
work in "Milestones." "The Great
Lover" and "A Voice in the Daik."
