The mission held scores of public
meetings and private conferences, lis

garding independence for the Philip,

fairs, sanitation, schools, public works,

cultural conditions.
After visiting the central provinces of
Lnqin Island the mission (separated.
General Wood traveled through the
northern Pacific provinces, while Mr.
Forbes went through the mountainous
provincos among the non-Christian
tribes. The parties united again on the
west'eoast of Luzon.
Both commissioners said that their
sojourns everywhere, had been markod
by the friendliest feelings of the natives
