crashed between two motortrurks at

The accident occurred in a peculiar
manner. A light truck of SheafTer &
Marvel, driven by Lester Macht, of
1008 East Firth street, was standing at
the north side of the street Intersection,
on Fourth street, uniting for a block to

Stores Co., driven by Sam Sheppard.

In order to proceed and clear the
block, Sheppard released his brake and
the truck backed into the car of
SheafTer and Marvel just as Miss John
son tried to run between the two. Sh
was calight and crushed against the
radiator of the Hgnt car until the big
truck conld be moved forward again and
release her. I
A large crowd of persons on their
way to work quickly gathered and the
excitement was intense. When the girl
was finally rclcaeed she was laid upon
the pavement until a paysinj automobile
could be bailed. One was stopped and
she was put in and taken to tho hos

Councilman Hall Acts on Suggestion
by Mrs. Blankenburg
Announcement was made by Council
man Hall yesterday before Council's
Public Welfare Committee of bis pur- ,
pose to present a series of ordinances
providing for small playgrounds in tie
congested districts of thakclty.
Mr. Hall said he had been called into
conference with Mrs. Rudolph Blan
kenburg, widow of the one-time Mayor,
who had urged him to take that step.
In line with the Hall plan. Council
man Pommer introduced in Council nn
ordinance to take the properties In the
First Ward section bounded by Reed.
Earp. American and Philip streets for
a small playground.
