There was a steadier tone to the
local market although It was evident that
selling for the purpose of establishing
losses for income tax statements was
not jet completed, but brokers look
for a continuation of such operations
up until the end of the year.
Offsetting this was the better resis
tance shown by those of the local shares
recently under heavy pressure. F.lec
trie Storage Hatter) . strengthened by
the overnight's consideration of reas
suring statement issued yesterday by
the president of the company, rallied
over .T to !5 points and maintained most
of the gain.
Although I'niteil Oas Improvement
continued to be offered freely, these of
ferings were much bettr absorbed with
the price well sustained fractionally
