BMrllr.
The Rese Roem, which was tiled for
the occasion, was artistically decorated
with rln, hesenlas ntid the Columbia
rose. The stage, which concealed the
orchestra, was banked with palms and
ferns. A lattice-work gate of pink
roes nnd natural mnllax presented an
artistic background.
Supper was served at midnight at
pmnll tables whlcli were ornamented
with pprays of smllax and pink -shaded
lights.
The Junte Dances, In a wnv, succeed
the former Monday Evening Dancing
Class, though they are by no means as
excluivc as that class was. When Mrs.
Trcdcrlck Thursten Masen was In
charge of the Monday Evening she never
extended an Invitation te subscribe te
uny one who was net a subscriber te the
Assemblies. She often invited non nen
aubscrlbers, however, as It seemed
hardly fair te exclude entirely persons
whose social position was quite the
equal of these who through accident of
birth had happened te live all their lives
in Philadelphia and had also always
eubscrlbed te the Assemblies.
Thee Junier Dances are. of course,
limited, tee, in a sense, but they de net
keep te the Assembly list. They arc
held en Wednesday nights and there are
three meetings as compared te six with
the old Monday Evening.
There were a great many dinners be
fore the meeting, including one for
Malslc Stewart nnd Jessie Da Cesta,
which was given by Mr. and Mrs.
Daniel Hutchinson, Jr., and one given
by the Wl.sen Pritchctts. The Chattln
Wetherills also gave a dinner for Gladjs

tained at the theatre before the dance.
