Ellis du Pent, Eleaner pummey and
Virainla Carter.
Mr. and Mrs. Stevens Hecksher will
glre a ball for their daughter en Wed
nesday nlfht of this week.
I MUST soy I am looking forward
with a great deal of pleasure 'te the
Charity Ball eh the nlfht of December
Hnmethlnir tells me It will be a very
graceful and pretty affair. The idea of
the cnlia a aream ami unnsiraas who
and the wish bursting forth in various
dainty fans of all nations, which will
K ifenlrteH bv men and alrls dressed te
reeresent the painted figures en the

Then after the opening concert and
Unpin-? there will be ceneral danclnc as
heretofore en the great floored -ever
space In the Academy, which takes in
the entire stage and entire ercnestra
9 ".. Suerjcr will be served in the

It worth going te, for that foyer is
really tee beautiful for words. I de

DID you knew that Mary McCabe
and Allen Earashaw are te be mar
ried four days before Christmas?
The plana were first te have a church
wedding, but of course since the recent
death in Mr. Earnshaw'a family a few
weeks age, the wedding will be a very
quiet one and will take place at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. McCabe en St.
.Tames Place. Mrs. Simpsen and Mrs.
Ileyland, Mary's two sisters, will attend
her as matrons of honor, and Walter
Karnshnw will be best man. There
will be no ether attendants and only
the immediate families will be present.
I have net heard if Harry Reylesd
will get en for the wedding, but I
doubt It, aa he left se lately for the
Middle West, where he Is stationed.
Teil knew he is in the regular array.
Margaret was te have joined him out
West n few weeks age, out I have net
heard If she went or net. She may have
decided te remain until after the wed
ding. In any case she will be here at
that time. Which Is a remarkable
speech, but you knew what I mean.
TflAT was a beautiful tea at the
Girls' League yesterday afternoon
at 1525 Locust street. Elizabeth Latta
sang delightfully. I de love te hear her
she Is se easy and has such rich, even
tones. I never, see her that I de net
think of the late Mm. Scammon -Jenes
and hew proud she was of Elizabeth
and her Ringing. I never knew her te
appreciate one of her pupils he much.
Of course, she had geed cause te de se.
Miss 'Quintan played very, very well,
tee, and the girls who came seemed te
love it. There were Ieta of people ou
knew there. Mrs. Charles Carver. Jr.,
Mr. Henry C. Hever and Mrs. Ocorge
Lerimcr were receiving. The latter in
hostess for this month and yesterday was
her last tea. I understand there are te
be two given in a month and different
members of the women's beard arc te
be hostesses for each special month.
Mrs. Carver is president of the League
of Girls' Clubs and Mrs. Bejcr is
chairman of the teas.
I SAW Deberah Seal en the street the
ether day. Speaking of Elizabeth
Lattn singing made roe think of De De
eorah. She has a very geed voice, you
knew. Didn't she sing well in the
Floradora sextet at the "Talk of the
Town?" Well, but that wiu net what
I started te gay: what I wanted te talk
about was the beautiful fur coat De De
eorah was wearing. It was composed
of two kinds of fur, black and gray,
and It was long, almost te the bottom
of her skirt. Her hat was a black
velvet model, and as one girl aptly de
scribed it, was "fifty-fifty" in size. It
wan trimmed entirely in blue stltchery
and was most becoming te Deberah,
