n victory over Conch McGuighans' Villa
Nova Prep eleven. The fact that Heinie
Millers' men triumphed ocr the Main
Lineri is very likely to make them n
band of fighting warriors today. The
sensational wny that the Crimion nnd
(5rny eleven stopped Dutch Henncn
berger and his pais in the final ten
minutes of thnt struggle Is proof of
their fighting spirit.
However, Lou Little's team is in ex
cellent shape and n good battle Is ex
pected. LnSnlle recently held the fnst
West Catholic High eleven to n 0-0 tic.
The teams are evenly matched, both
averaging about lfiO pounds.
George Brennan is the star of the La
Salic team. He is over six feet tall and
weighs 17.T pounds.
Cnrr and Larkin. tho tackles, are
husky boji and good defensive players.
Cieorgle Crandall, the onarterbaek, is n

"Watch West Philadelphia, said some
of tho wise ones after the Frankford
victory yesterday. For West Philadel
phia High School scored n 7-to-0 Ver
diet over a hard-fighting, aggressive
bunch of warriors.' It was not that
West Philadelphia took the lead In the
league that caused serious thought on
tho part of tho scouts from the other
schools who saw the teams In. action,
as It was the general Improvement ex
hibited bv tho victors. One could
hardly call It a surprise the West
Phillies nre always, dangerous.
For West Philadelphia scored a
clean-cut victory and tho youngsters
across tho Schuylkill let loose n series
of forward passed, end runs and (Jul
somo line plunging which put Frank
ford 'on tho defensive vlrtunlly the en
tire contest. Jcffcott's brilliant catch
of a forward and a plunge by Sweet re
sulted in tho touchdown in the first
period with tlrreo minutes to play.
Frankford undoubtedly held the score
low chiefly because Morltss knew how
to punt, and when ho went out Rem
mey succeeded Irt booting tho leather
toward tho West Phlllie goal. In the
last quarter sheer grit on tho part of
the Frankford players prevented West
Philadelphia from scoring another
touchdown. They hod the ball, on the
10-yard line and lost It on downs.
Central High now considers West
Philadelphia a very formldablo rival.
It will be remembered thnt the Cen
tral High Schcul team only succeeded
In winning from Frankford 13 to 0.
Central High player when they heard
of tho result last night' Bald: "We
thought West Philadelphia had about
an even chanco." . , .
Tho entire West Philadelphia team
showed considerable Improvement. The
open field work was exceptionally good.
Sinco the victory over Ocrmnntown,
which was such a close call when the
going to meet n team thnt Is equipped
with as fine a defense bb nearly nny
combination in scholastic circles. Coach
Miller believes In having a strong de
fense. The fact that he developed such
a strong center ns llutlcr is proof of
his nbllity to teach bojs to play well
defensively.
The bnekficld men have not been neg
lected, either. Ureslin. Martin, Wjnno

Back to Old Prices
The famous "Blend that makes Havana Mild" begin
ning NOW to be had for as little as 10 cents.
Last to go up First to come down
Big news for smokers for the thousands
who want Manuels at any price; for those
who are not yet acquainted with the marvel-
fragrance and mildness vet satisfviner
"body" of this wonderful blend.
The prices on ALL sizes of Manuel
are immediately reduced to the old popu
lar levels. j
Months ago, when costs for leaflabor
and everything else were rising almost daily,
we found it necessarv to raise torices on
Manuels as a matter of necessity. Others
had LONG BEFORE raised prices. We
were THE LAST TO DO IT.
Our reduction is based on our antici
pating a future that will enable us to manufac
ture at costs that will justify these reduced
prices.
We have made arrangements -with our
dealers so that they can immediately put on
sale their stocks at these prices.
We believe we are doing a service. We
confidently await public approval on it in the
shape of big increases in the already large
Manuel sales.
In whatever shape or size
you prefer beginning at
10c. At all stores.
