Club. It's the women's national cham
pionship tournament, yoti know, nnd
every one was out therf ; nnd the sky
was eo blue nnd the trees so green and
the white tennis clothes of the players
to cool, while, the pretty frocks of the
audience seated on the club steps nnll
on chairs alongside of the courts wero
beautiful bits of color. I noted nmouu

charming and were so in earjicst when

SPEAKING of the tennis makes me
think of the Horse Show. ' I 'hear
that quite a notable group of horsemen
and masters of hounds will come over
from New York nnd up from Mnryland
and from Massachusetts and nil over
the country for the Bryn Mawr Horse
Show.
The Stanley necves, of Boggcstowe,
Haverford, will hove Major St. Claire
Streett, of Harford county, Maryland,
as their guest. You know, he was
formerly master of the Knnsas City
hounds nnd he is an uncle of Rush
Strcett, who is (he present secretary of
the Harford Hunt.
The Beeves will also have Henry
Hlgglnson as, a giicst. He is master of
the Middlesex hounds, which hounds
have not been renewed since trie war,
and I understand Mr. Higginson is to
hunt Oakley Thorno's Millbrook hounds
this season.
The John U, Valentines will hove
Mr. nnd Mrs. Ambrose Clark, of Coon-
rretown. N. 1, as their guests during
horse show week. Mr. Clark has a
great many entries in the hunt classes,
they say, -and will bo therefore one of
tt prominent exhibitors.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Chew are to have
J. W. Appieton, of Hamilton, Mass.,
as their guest. Mr. Appieton is master
of the Myopia hounds, which are to be
thown. There will be a good deal of
quiet entertaining for all these people,
too, but the large affairs will be the
mnual horse' show dinuer at the Rad
nor Hunt Club and another entertain.
mtnt will be the president's dinner,
which will be given this year by Mr.
William Struthcrs Ellis, of Fox Hill
mm, uryn aiawr.
rjID you know that George Brooke,
-' Jld, Is giving a. house party ut
Blrdsboro next week-end, nnd the
guests will Includo several members of
the hunt clubs in this section? They
will nil motor to Reading for the fair
races there next Saturday.
"DILL-IE BUMPS is nearly four years
f-ol, and of nil the things Blllle
dreads most In this world, the greatest
is sometning called "a yellow streak, "
and he'll go to any extreme to provo
lie hadn't one. The other day his
grandpa, who is n tall and powerful
man, lifted Master Billy up from the
floor by his little ankles and told him
io touch the ceiling with his hands.
Billy looked toward the ceiling and then
down at the floor, it was a great ways
down and he hesitated. His uncle,
Jho was present, said:-"Oh, Bill,
have jou got a yellow streak?" And
before the word streak was out, 'Bill
had touched the celling. And next dav
when he was all dressed fresh for the
afternoon in a white" blouse and little
pants of yellow linen ho came running
out on the porch calling "Oh, Uncle
Dan, I got on a yellow suit, but I
haven t got a yellow streak, have I?"
