that Immediately after tho post meetings

at attention. In honor of the departed
comrades, and the chaplain offer a
prayer. The preamble of the constitu
tion of the American Legion, setting
forth Its purposes, shall then be read,
nnd It is further suggested that imme
diately before adjournment the mem
bers sing at lenBt one verse of the
Star Spangled Banner.
On the question of social service the
report pointH out: "Tho post should
1 strengthen Its position not only by as
sisting its members, but also in aiding
the community. The returned soldier
nnd trained man has learned tho power
of co-operation and the concerted action
of any forceful nnd intelligent body of
young men or women is bound to hare
its effect.
Harry II. Ingersoll Post 174 will hold
a special meeting at tbo Pen and Pencil
Club, 1020 Walnut street, 5 o'clock
next Wednesday, for the purpose of
ratifying the new constitution. The
post had suspended meetings for the
Bummer nionthB and the special cnll wob
made in compliance with directions from
department headquarters. The post will
also, receive a report on the field day
events at Franklin Field on September

"Wow-wow-wow I I'm hungry I Give
me a bltol" barked Toddle Pupklna Ex
citedly, jumping up and down nnd tak
ing a llttlo nip out of tho Inquisitive
Pig's leg.
"Stop!" cried Peggy, who thought
Lonesomo Bear and Toddio meant to
gobble tho Inquisitive Pig right there
nnd then. "The farmer who owns the
pig will be nngry If you eat him up."
"And he will come hunting you with a.
gun." added Hilly, who saw that Peggy's
argument didn't hnvo much terror to
Lonesomo Bear
"Then you will always have to be
hiding: you will no longer bo freo to
room tho woods," urged Peggy.
Lonesome Bear thought this over, then
lot tho Inquisitive Pig drop to tho
ground, where he lay gasping for brenth.
"Hut this pig ought to bo punished for
hurting my little chum, Toddio Pupklns,"
growlod Lonesome Bear. "BesldeB. a pig
has no business In tho woods with the
.vlld creatures. Ho belongs on the
'arm. whro ho will bo safe.
"That la true." agreed Billy "What

to seek adventure," panted the pig.
"There. I knew he was a bad pig."
growled Lonesome Bear. "If ho were a

running away?"

harder than a dozon ordinary spanks.
Tho blow sent Inquisitive Pig flying for
ward, out ot mo anion or x-egtry rind
Billy, nnd over tho edge of tho bluff.
"Wee-woe-wee!" squealed the pig, and
ho legged It for homo as faat as he
could go. After him raced Toddio Pup
klns, snapping at his hools. Toddio
chased him clear to tho odgo of the
woods, whence he headed straight for
tho rarmynrci, a sore oui wiser poruer.
IIo would run away no more.
It was getting close to bedtlmo when
Toddio got back to the cave, and so
Peggy and Billy snld good-night, and
scooted for their own homes, leaving tho
chums making their beds in tho cavo.
