History
The long stretch of modern manufacturing build
ings on the north side of the Pennsylvania
Railroad at Tacony represents the present status
of a business that had its beginning in 1903 in a
little room in West Philadelphia.
Today 8 out of every 10 automobiles built are
equipped with Gilmer Fan Belts.
The officers and management have large personal
investments in Jhe Company and their own suc
cess is dependent on the advancement and pros
perity of the L. H. Gilmer Co. Over 75 of the
employees are stockholders.

Me stricffy modeift roohzy or
y the strictly modem factory
THE modern efficient factory is practically fire
proof and if it ha3 a fire-resisting roof it can get
low insurance rates. Carey roofings permit these
low insurance rates.
Twentieth century factories use heavy machine tools
and often many motors and cranes that cause a certain
amount of vibration.
Carey roofings are exceptionally vell adapted to resist
vibration because they are built'on a flexible wool felt
base. The asphalt compound used is so tempered that
the roof i3 elastic, and it does not become brittle and
crack in cold or in dry rwther.
Modern lighting aiVX ventilation calls for a large
amount of sawtooth construction involving pitched sur
faces. Carey roofings are perfectly adapted to pitched
as well a3. flat surfaces because they do not "run" in
the hottest weather.
The qualities that make them preferred for factories
make them better for all other buildings. Consult us.
