vania on a collegiate basis, will not

says Dr. J. Eugene IJaker, prlncipnl
of the Girls' Normal School In this
city.
"Such a plan is highly desirable,"
said Doctor Haker, "and I linvc al
ready gone on record favoring both n
longer nnd a stronger course In Phila
delphia's uormnl schools.
"Hut at present tho grave question
Is bow to get teachers at nil. For that
reason it has been deemed advisable
to conflno tho term of tinlnlng nt tho
normal school here to two years.
"I think such a plan as out
lined by Doctor Ilowland, in addition
to benefiting the schools of the stnte
directly, would also Indirectly help this
city. There is no question that by
raising tho standnrd of the state schools
which have admittedly up to the pres-
