A Full-Sized Fishing Boat
Was Seen to Sink in
the Harbor
Apparently she was waterlogged and had
been adrifa long time to get into the condition
she was. IJ is possible she parted from a
companion vessel in a storm and sprung a leak
when washed up on the rocks. There she goes
down to the bottom to be battered and broken to
pieces!
How like many a human lfe specially built
to do useful service, exposed to dangers, hard
knocks, finally becomes stranded for lack of
repairs at the proper time and passes out of
sight a wreck.
Along the shores of business enterprise
there may always be seen the scattered wrecks
of noble ships of trade that have been sunk by
little leaks that have eaten away the timbers by
lack of integrity, industry and internal
harmony of the partners.
A small flaw in the cloth, carelessly
unnoticed by the weaver at the loom, puts him
out of business, sooner or later, yet it was but a
little thing that ended for him good wages and a
life-long place.

MpSERE is no getting away from old-established facts and funda
mentals. ' The man who first wrote that, "we live in deeds, not
words," expressed an idea that was ever so 'old, long, long before he
was born, But he has laid all of us under tribute for giving us an apt
and simple definition of one of the things which always hold true.
"We live in deeds, not words." For several days now we have
been printing advance statementssome of them pretty strong, per
haps about our August Furniture Sale, but nobody knows better
than we do that an event of this kind can never live in, on or by
mere words, promises or assertions.
Wednesday, the first day of advance selection and courtesy in
the August Furniture Sale, the people will have an opportunity of
seeing just what is back of all the statements we have been making
about this August Sale.
Autumn Hats These

as well as later on in the sea
son. They arc interesting
because they reflect the early
Autumn modes, and they will
appeal to women looking for

turned up in front is of me
dium size, quite smart of line,

finished with an upright,
feathery ornament.
Still different is a handsome
black taffeta hat with a largo,
soft crown, thickly beaded with
little glistening green beads.
A
Some of the new duvetyne
hats are trimmed with chenille
embroidery, others are com
bined with faille silk in con
trasting color, and others arc
used with satin of the same
shade.
The shapes are large and
small, there arc subdued as
well as gay colors, and the
prices start at $12 and go to
$38.
