In the arrest of both, after Hrnwn had
put up a terrific fifdit with Mounted
Policeman Schwartz.
As a sequel to the ride, both were
arraigned before MnglMrnto Price to
day in the Twenty-second utrcct and
Hunting Park avenue station.
BroWn was held under ?S00 ball for
a further hearing on a charge of nsouult
and battery, and on suspicion of lar
ceny. Mrs. Mayers was held under
$3(X) ball, charged with breach of tho
peace and as a material witness.
According to the story told the magis
trate, Mrs. Mayers yesterday drew $2t0
out of bank, as first payment on a
house she and her husband had selected.
At 6:30 she met Drown at Cumberland
street and' Kenslngtin nvenue, and the
taxirnb driven by Michael Fnrrell, 772
ISorth Twenty-fifth street, was sum
moned. With Mrs. Mayers was her
eight-year-old daughter.
An hour later Mounted Policeman

A representative of A. D. Klrsch
baum Co., clothing manufacturers to
day took issue with the. statement nun
the attorney general's ollicc at 'WaHii
nlgton that there Is no justification for
a price increase In suits.
Suits for this coining fall have been
made up of woolens purchased nt prices
prevailing a year ngo, according to the
Klrschbaum representative. Woolen
lines for next spring haven't been
opened yet, ho stated, but for next
summer the prospects are for higher
priced mohairs, palm beaches and other
light clothing than for this summer.
"Clothing manufacturers have not
noted an decrease In the cost of labor
or any Incrensed efficiency by the work
ers," he sold. ''Clothing manufacturer
generally are on part time. They sim
ply won't produce more clothes than
the public will buy. Generally they arc
content to fill orders and are not manu
facturing In anticipation of n big de
mand. "The price of a suit for the nvcrage
man this fall should be from .$10 to
?(i0. The retailer won't be able to do
much better than this. Those who are
selling nt decreased prices now nrc
overstocked."
Public Service Men to Meet
Representatives of the Public Service
Commissions of Pennsylvania'. New
York, Ohio, Maryland and West Vir
ginia will meet here to discuss uniform
practice in regard to natural gas mat
ters. The results of tho conference will
be submitted to the naturul gas con
ference in Pittsburgh, on July 28. At
that time rules adopted by gas corpora
tions for conservation will be submitted.
