motor Issues reflected losses of a point
or so, but there was manifestly very
llttlo real stock preising for sale. A
fair-sized short intctvst has apparently
been built up as a result of the down
ward trend of prices so far this week
and to this extent the technical posi
tion of tho list has been Improved.
Trading was again of a discriminating
sort, pressure being brought to bear
against certain Industrial stocks whose
earning power under normal conditions
does not promise the big profits reaped
during war times. The motor and
rubber stocks which aro Included In
this category were again quite soft at
times, so were the food snares, nan
road shares sagged from neglect, al
though sentiment as regards these
properties Is more uniformly bullish
than any other group. Railroad stocks
at going prices have held a relatively
greater portion of last week's gains than
have tho industrials.
After renewing nt 8 ner cent, the pre
vailing rate for the week, call money
ndvanccd to Si per cent Jn tho afternoon.
This encouraged some fresh selling on
the theory that the money situation was
not easing up as had been expected, but
the higher rate quite possibly reflected a
temnorarr flnrrv ns a. result of covern-
ment withdrawals from the banks today.
Invincible Oil was one of the few
strong spots on tho list, advancing to
a new high since Its listing to above i

lower, with Mexican Petroleum undei

Times Square Auto Supply Co. stock
made its first appearance on the ex
change, selling in the neighborhood ol

The weekly statement of the Bank of
England showed llttlo change in condi
tion, reserve ratio moving up slightly
from 12.20 last week to 12.43 per cent.
There was an increase in gold holdings
of 2,142.000, raising the total of this
item to 122.870,000. Wheat trading
for future delivery was resumed today
on the Chicago Board of Trade follow
ing a three-year suspension. Business
was light nnd prices yielded following
u lower opening.
Tho selling movement proceeded with
increased momentum In the last half
hour as the call money rate continued to
advance until it reached 11 p?r cent.
The lowest prices of the day nere made
in the final trading, some of the spe
cialties breaking badly. Stromberg

A Plant to Operate Efficiently
ust Have Efficiency
Built Into It
You can't get efficiency out of a plant unless you first
plan, build and equip it efficiently.
Too many cases of inefficiency in production are
directly traceable to badly planned and improperly con
structed manufacturing plants.
Steele-built plants function efficiently because they
are planned and constructed efficiently. Experts in the
Steele organization arrange the machinery, lay out the
best method of routing, lighting and sprinkling systems.
This is all done before the ground is broken.
Under the Steele Idea of Industrial Construction,
every detail of planning, building and equipping a' factory
is decided upon only after the most thorough study of the
manufacturing process as a whole.
Then the work of construction is begun by one
organization, under one supervision and centralized
responsibility.
The plants built by Steele not only are efficient but
stay efficient.
For 55 years ,we have demonstrated to some of the
biggest manufacturers in the world the economy and
efficiency of the Steele Idea of Industrial Construction.
I hat s why fifty per cent of our business today comes to
us through clients we have previously served.
If you are a, manufacturer thinking of building, re
building or adding to your plant, consult us. We will be
glad to prove to you the value of our services without cost
or obligation to you. Phone or write or an interview
