Commodity Markets
COTTON MARKET
New York, July 13. Active buying
of July cotton nt the opening this morn
ing by Liverpool houses explained nn
upturn of 30 points in that contract,
while later months were 7 points lower
to 2 points higher. Spot houses were
the chief early sellers ot .luly, ana
southern concerns and N'ew Orleans sold
t the later options.
I Private advices reported light rains
in the central and pnrts of the western
belts, which would tend to promote
boll -weevil.
Later the market was somewhat un
settled. Liverpool and room traders
sold new crops, but the talk of boll
weevil prevented any aggressive pressure.
